I say this poll is a little premature.

Ive seen her play and I can assure you shes not one dimensional, yes she does have an extremely good serve (its often hard to read) but shes also got a killer forehand, can add alot of spin onto the ball and has many other positive attributes too.
Shes been dominant on the juniors tour this year but im really not sure that she will be a number one.

My guess is that she will win a few major tier titles and possibly make it to the semis of a few grand slam events, my guess for her career high ranking....6th

I think she'll win a slam, but not be number one. I think she's like Nicole still. They have no plan b and just try and hit their opponents off the court.

like some said earlier, it's way to soon to say if she'll reach world#1 or not... But she's probably top 10 material for sure...

thats what all junior girls try to do.

but i think she will definitely get up there. she is only, what, 15 and has been dominating juniors (apart from her first round loss at wimbledon) and she has plenty of time to develop her game

Yes, this poll is very premature. I definitely want her to be #1 but if it's like the Junior champions of the last... 10 years let's say... I'd be happy if she reaches top 10 (which remains a great achievement).

like most ppl in here r saying: this poll is way too premature & I agree. give nastya more time to develop her game & then we can make discussions.

I'll be happy reaching top 20 or better.
even most top juniors just want to make the grade ( and that means playing season in-season out on the WTA Tour) only a few do that.

and you guys wrong, her 1st serve is pretty good, FH is solid
but her BH is her best shot.
and she doesnt try and blast you off court, she works her pts.

She turned 15 in July and she's a big girl. It will depend on her mental toughness. You can't judge that in juniors.

Too early to say, she definetely has talent to be a good player although hopefully she won't be like some junior players who fade into oblivion and never heard of. I hope that doesn't happen.

i remember there were threads about Azarenka is future #1 as well :oEverybody wants to be first. To say I knew she would be #1. She isn't 16 until July, and she is a very big girl.
It's impossible to be sure. But I would bet she has a successful career. She has a nice game.

Of course it is too early to tell. But her results havent been that exceptional. Multiple top players have done better than her at 15. Here is a graph that I posted earlier. There are also a lot of good young players right now that will be around for most of her career.

------------Born----15------16------17------18------19
--------------------------------------------------------
Davenport---76-----339----159------20-------6------12 Mauresmo---79------na-----290-----159----109------29 VWilliams----80-----204-----204------22------5-------3
Hingis-------80------16-------4-------1-------2-------1
SWilliams----81------na------99------20------4-------6
HeninH------82------na------na------69-----45-------7
Clijsters-----83------na------47------18------5-------4
Sharapova---87----186------32-------4-------4-------2
Vaidisova----89-----72------15------10

Best 15 year old currently- 413 Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova
Best 16 year old currently- 181 Tamira Paszek and 231 Caroline Wozniacki

The na doesnt necessarily mean they werent ranked, just that I couldnt find the ranking. Besides Hingis, Sharapova has easily been the best teenage player since Seles. Mauresmo gives hope to the teenagers who are struggling, but she might be the only exception to the rule that you must crack the top 10 as a teenager if you want to be #1.

I agree it's too early to tell what her future is gonna be. She has had a great year but she has proven to be beatable.

She has shown she is a fighter on court but if you check her results this year, she has struggled a lot to get through matches. Still though, her 49-5 record is nothing to sneeze at. Pretty impressive stuff.

Question is, will Anastasia still be playing juniors in 2007? If she is, she is only going to get better as she keeps developing.

Would love to see this thread this time next year.

:inlove:

Nah she's not.

How about waiting a year or two with this poll. :help: Give her a chance to win a WTA main draw match before you write her off as a no.1 player.
But I certainly wouldn't be surprised to see her in the top thirty by the end of 2008.

As was Flipkens in 03, Krajicek in 04...you can't always judge by juniors.

But then youve also got people like Amelie Mauresmo who become number one 10 years later (I think we both still have faith that Krajicek will reach number one in a few years time)

What I'm trying to say is that it's still waaaaaaaaaay to early to tell where Nastya will end up...as for Misa, I don't put a number to where I think she will end up. I'm just happy when she can better her ranking.:)

Nastya is not a power player. If you don't know anything about her, please keep your comments to yourself. Thanks. :)

7/8 of the people on this board know nothing about her and have never seen her play. They just think because she's Russian that she's a big baseliner. :help:

As said before, it's way too early to tell.

Just because you are a dominant junior doesn't mean you will be a top professional. Look at Salerni for example.

Nastya definitely has a lot of potential, but it's up to her on how much of it she uses. ;)
