Hmm, unfortunately I don't think so

As much as I love Tati, I don't see a grand slam victory in her career.

Ben.
Dec 9th, 2006, 04:48 AM
personally i don't think so. they'll be too many great players taking slams from 2007-2009 & i'm not saying that golovin is a crap player though.

It's tough to say. She definitely won't win one in 2007 and is very unlikely in 2008. If she is very lucky she might win one in 2009 but I can't really see that happening.

As somebody else pointed out, she needs to win a title first

I doubt it.

Nope. She's good but most slam titleists are great.

I don't think she's good enough to win a grand slam, sadly.

Dec 9th, 2006, 06:20 AM
Nope. But she'll win a title by then... hopefully :scared:

But who knows what is gonna be in 2009. She may improve her game and win a major, why not? She is still very young. Sharapova wasn't that good in 2003 either, was she?

Dec 9th, 2006, 06:31 AM
It seems like she can do everything but I don't know if she has enough raw power. I say yes though.. if not by then eventually :)

I actually don't understand, some people here think that Chakvetadze, Radwanska or Jankovic may win one Grand Slam so why not Tati ?

She really has the game when she is healthy. She was really close to Sharapova, Mauresmo and Clijsters this year who are among the best players. With confidence, she will be able to win those crucial matches. She compensates her lack of power for other qualities that make her an original player. She is a very surprising player that should not be underrated.

So to answer the question, I would say that she can do it. Really.

I think she can do it!

Without injuries, she could have won her first tournament this year...

She has made great improvement this year... In Miami and in the end of season her game was simply impressive: !:)

Of course, I cant' have an objective point of you because it's really a player I admire a lot... but I think she really has the potential to win a slam by 2009!

Why do you all say "she needs to improve her game" and not "she needs to not be injured"... Have you seen everything she's done this year when she wasn't injured ? Don't you think she improved much in the USO and in Stuttgart ? How do you want her to improve her game if she is injured  :tape:

she has challenged sharapova a couple of times this year and 2009 is still quite a way of so she has plenty of time to hone her skill, so yes, she can and quite probably will

Ben.
Dec 9th, 2006, 10:32 AM
all she needs is time.

definitely definitely a great big chance in 2019

No.... I don't think she'll ever win a slam... she just isn't slam material...

I agree. I love Tati alot but first of all she didn't win a title yet. I don't think that she will Ever win a GS. I don't see her having that kind of raw material that most of the other young stars like Kournikova, Williams, or Hingis had when they were young.

Same opinion here. And to be more precise,I think she has much chances than Jankovic and the others named.

Tati has a lot of potential but she needs time.

A GS is too big a bet for her right now. Aside of being injury prone, she's to emotional I think. At the USO this year she just showed she's not yet mentally prepared to sustain a GS. As others said, she need to start winning tournaments in order to gather some confidence.
But do I see her winning at least a GS in her entire career? Yes.

Yes :hearts: With the help of a good draw, being healthy and not playing like shit :D

Golovin will develop a lot more. I don't count her out of getting to GS final though, that's more than within her reach.

It`s imposible for her!
She win only if top20 won`t play!

Golovin will most probably win one: like the other one-slam wonders out there.

Most probably win Jancovic, Ivanovic, Vaidisova, Dementieva, Petrova or MYSKINA again than Golovin!

Maybe if there was a depleted field with the top players missing, then she may have a chance.

Tati played well in Miami and NY, but it will hard for her to win a major.
She's going to earn a good living.

Dec 9th, 2006, 11:49 PM
Who knows what's going to happen? I see no reason why Tati can't win a slam in the future - everything in her game can be improved dramatically if she's willing to put the work in. Just look what happened to her serve this past year. ;)

She has time, not everyone breaks through to the bigtime before their 20th.

Andrew..
Dec 10th, 2006, 12:01 AM
Nope. She's good but most slam titleists are great.
Key word: most. The last few years, you only had to be good to win a slam.

Derek.

I'd like to see her do those matches in a row.

That's what it takes to win a slam.

Not a good win here and there.

She will to be in the zone and her opponents out of it.

She can't beat someone like Sharapova, Henin-Hardenne, Clijsters, or even Vaidisova if they are all on their games.

I'm sorry to say, but I highly doubt it. Just can't see Golovin win a GS.
There are just too many players that are way better then she is.

I never said she could win a GS. I'm just replying to someone who said she couldn't win when top 20 player played.

And the last time I checked whe Tati played MS, JHH, KC, there were close matches and beat NV. It was just a matter of time that she starts winning these kind of close matches. People conviniently forget that she got injured twice this year.

I don't think she'll wn the french. The fact is, the french can't seem to get one of their own to win the tournament (excluding Pierce). Ditto for all the other slams and their players. Tati is a hardcourt player.
