As I am sure of you are most aware, Nastya lost her first match agaisnt Gisela Dulko 1-6 7--6(4) 2-6. I stayed up till 2 am GMT time watching the live score feeding on the Sony Ericsson WTA site until the match finished.
I logged off after the tie break finished, then came back and saw Myskina down 5-2, facing 40-0 on Dulko's serve, and 3 match points. At that point my heart sunk and head fell into hands.
Apart from this, it was apparant in the match she needed a medical time out for a toe injury which put her out of the last part of 2007. This toe injury is NOT and good sign, as it puts in jepordy her chances of playing the Australian Open in a few weeks time.
Nastya hasn't has a win since the Semi's of Stockholm in August, and to hear her loose in the first round at a Tier IV event, seems no hoper.
I can't really say much more on it. It's up to Nastya, and that's the only person. Let's hope her toe is fine after some rest, and she can get some wins in the Aussie Open.

Myskina is an awesome player, and like you stated she has played extremely well this week to win the exhibition in Austria ... wins against Bammer and Schnyder will do great for her confidence. Hopefully she'll do well, it'll be her first tourney back and anything can happen but i do see her making the semis at least (unless she meets someone like Vera in the qtrs) ... BEST OF LUCK ANA!

Hopefully Nastya will have a good tournament. She could win this quite comfortably, but she probably will find somewhere to slip :tape: It would be nice if she could get back to the form that took her to the French Open title :awww:

If anyone is reading the score is currently 1-6 7-6(4) in sets. It's gone to a third.
Dulko had match point at 6-5 but myskina managed to save it.

Nastya :o   What a terrible result, plus that nasty injury that just doesn't seem to go away. Hopefully she can get together for the Aussie Open, but there is a chance she won't play
