Dokic switches coach, again

From correspondents in Zagreb
December 07, 2006
THE soap opera that is Jelena Dokic's tennis career has taken another twist with the former world No.4 fleeing the Munich-based academy of coach Nikola Pilic for the second time in a month.
The troubled Australian and Serbian tennis star, now ranked in the 500s, says she is back training with her former coach Borna Bikic, and eyeing a "return to the ... top 100".
"I'm returning to (coach) Borna Bikic, my former coach ... I'll try to return to the world's best," Dokic told daily newspaper 24Sata.
"I'm facing hard times and will have to be terribly strong."
The 23-year-old fled coach Pilic's Munich-based camp last month – prompting her estranged and incident-prone father Damir to claim she was abducted – only to return soon after.
Dokic, however, now claims she is simply not satisfied with the contract Pilic's academy offered her.
"We simply could not agree. That's the whole truth – the offer was anything but fair," she said.
Both Damir Dokic and Pilic blamed Borna Bikic and his brother, Jelena's boyfriend Tin Bikic, for her volatility.
"He (Pilic) should stay out of my private life. His statements disappointed me and what does he care, anyway," Dokic asked.
Asked whether she was considering making peace with her father to whom she does not speak at all, she tersely said: "That topic I will not touch."
Ranked fourth in the world in 2002, Dokic said that her goal for 2007 was to return and stay in the top 100.

this is getting a bit much. if only she had have taken that match point against Razzano at the Aus Open things may be quite different right now.

She really needs a coach like Tony Roache right now but i knowing him as i do i'm sure he'd have zero interest in the drama associated with her.

still hope for a good outcome though.

I wish Jelena would change her name or something, I just hate her name now. It's all I ever hear on these boards. Perhaps Delena Jokic.

I have to admit to being a huge Dokic fan. But all of this just gets you wondering. What is the point anymore? Get your head straight Jelena. Then give me a call. I've had enough.

Apparently Jelena is looking to ditch Borna Bikic as her coach and get a new coach early next year but she has Bikic for now because she doesn't have enough time because next season is only a month away.

I really hope that you are right.....

Anyhow, dumb decision by Jelena in my eyes. But as I said before, I will never give up on her, until she herself gives up.

She herself has stated that her season will not start in Australia, so I presume, that means we're talking several months before she competes competitvely again. Ahh get it together Jelena!

Bikic is the worst coach in the world. He has no brains, he just tells his players to hit as hard as they can. This was the worst thing Jelena could've done. I still stand by her though :)

I guess her kidnappers released her.
First thing she does after her release is to get a new coach.
Good priorities, girl !!

Dokic to overcome ‘hard times’

Darrell Halim
Friday December 8, 2006
http://www.sportsaustralia.com/files/244-news.gif Despite speaking of “hard times,” former world No.4 Jelena Dokic has publicly expressed her desire to make a successful comeback to the WTA circuit.

The much-publicised trouble the tennis star has faced to date has seen her playing career dubbed by many as a soap-opera gone wrong, but Dokic is adamant she can return from her current world ranking of 587 to once again be competitive against the world’s best.

In order to achieve her most recent goal, the 2000 Wimbledon semi-finalist has switched coaches once again, this time deserting her recently established partnership with Nikola Pilic in Germany.

“We simply could not agree, that’s the whole truth, the offer was anything but fair,” she told Serbian daily newspaper 24Sata.

“I’m returning to Borna Bikic, my former coach, and I’ll try to return to the world’s best,” she added.

“I’m facing hard times and will have to be terribly strong.”

Bikic, based in Croatia, is the brother of Dokic’s boyfriend Tin Bikic and the brothers have been accused for the demise of a promising career by both Dokic’s father Damir and her now former coach Pilic.

Damir even went as far as recently suggesting that his daughter had been kidnapped – a claim that was quickly rejected by Dokic.

When asked about her father, Dokic was quick to say “that’s a topic I will not touch,” but she was clear about her disappointment about Pilic’s suggestions.

“He should stay out of my private life, his statements disappoint me and what does he care anyway?” she said.

At just 23, the Australian and Serbian star has time on her side in her quest to “return to the Top 100.”

The Bikic Bastards are like the Ustashe (Croatia's Nazi puppet regime during WW II). Who knows what would happen to her if she left. :scared: (Remember, Lucic and her mother had to flee CRO with the help of Goran Ivanisevic to escape from her abusive father, because of Daddy's Political Pull).
