I can't help but wondering - what is an underserve?

This question came to mind when I was watching Soft Tennis played in the current Asian Games in Doha. Apparently, players held their racquets BELOW the hand which is holding the ball, then throw the ball up, and then seemed to "slice" the ball to the opponent... it seems to have a spin on it.

Is that what I saw an underserve? :help:

no.

i think its hitting the serve underhand. throwing the ball / letting the ball drop and then hitting it. like what michael change did at rg or what martina did to steffi graf.

yeah - isnt it sort of like when u toss the ball up but instead of hitting the ball with your raquet arm extended above your head u hit the ball underarm
