let's be realistic here. Na Li is locked for gold medal
the silver and bronze can't be decided unless the draw is released.

Because she has every chance of winning a medal :). I hope it is gold but any medal would be acceptable.

Chinese news agency Xinua has quoted Sania as saying "In singles, it's hard to say. There will probably be some unknown players coming up and there are some good Japanese girls out there. It's going to be a tough event and we have to be at our best".

Sania's comment, naming non-chinese players as the favourites for the singles title, hasn't gone down well with the Chinese media.

How about because based on raw ability and ball striking she's above anyone else in this competition, Na Li being the only one who comes close

By the way what were Sania's quotes about non-Chinese players being favorites to medal exactly?

Gold: Sania Mirza :rocker:
Silver : Na Li
Bronze: Aiko Nakamura or Iroda

I won't mind if Sania win Silver or Bronze because Gold is garunteed in Mens Doubles.

Gold - Sania Mirza
Silver - Na Li
Bronze - Jie Zheng and Shikha Uberoi

Shikha Oberoi. . You got be kidding me. Shikha can't even win matches against the players who are ranked below her. If shikha wins two matches that would be great achievement for her.

By stating that some 'unknown' player could win the title, she was indirectly saying that the Chinese Na Li and Jie Zheng (who are known players) are not necessarily the favourites. ;)

unless she plays Jie in the finals.... Na has a tandency to either play dead or struck a really bad luck while playing Jie...

Me here hopes the medals are between Jie, Na & Tammy...in any order!!!!
BTW, it would be a great story if Tammy will be able to win GOLD!
It should capped her great career with an exclamation mark!!!

However, I think this is more realistic -

In the team event, Sania Mirza d. Tamarine Tanasugarn 6-3, 6-3.
And Iroda d. Na Li 4-6, 6-1, 1-6
It bodes well for Sania & Iroda in the individual singles :)
