I notice a certain poster on GM has been referring to Maria supporters as "Mashabators".

I do not think we should stand for this. It is an inflamatory term which demeans both maria ans her supporters and is certainly against forum rules. This is not acceptable in a major Tennis forum.

If westarted posting about Williams Wankers or Clijsters C***Suckers, that would pretty soon be stopped.

Please report all posts using this term, using the report button, and insist that this sort of abuse by stamped down on.

On another note. Maria haters seem to have won my poll on GM for Most Annoying Haters... http://www.wtaworld.com/showthread.php?t=274802

it is actually a big deal and xan is correct, but as usual the biased admin at this site ignore this because maria is not one of there favorites and it seems to me that the admin at this site encourage these flame wars because they know it gets posters and stops this becoming a normal tennis board with one or two posters,if they really want to go down this road they should have a flame thread like other forums do and keep the GM board for tennis related threads and not for trolling and personal attacks, lots of double standards here and I do not appreciate being called a masturbator and pictures of someone masturbating(even censored) should not be posted on this board, like I say admin double standards by you lot but I guess if its maria and gets you extra posters thats allright is'nt it?

I agree, it is a big deal, I'm not hurt by it, but I think we shouldn't put up with a name like that.

I don't particularly like the name, though I used to be very good friends with the person who first coined the term :o

It may be a play on words, but it's one that is highly abusive and an unacceptable personal slur on Maria supporters.

If we are to accept that sort of treatment, then let it be extended to every fanbase that we all have a sexually derogatory nickname.

Every now and then the Mods need to be alerted that the forum rules apply to everyone.

What exactly is the same for Serena? Maria fans have to put up with much more, no matter what they say in GM. For example, it was very easy to see that Miching mallejo ( or whatever her name is) was totally biased against Maria and her fans when she wrote the descriptions of the fan groups. But of course, no one wanted to hear that, we're just a bunch of adolencent boys in lust with Maria...

Actually, I prefer to be anonymous but I am a girl and I hate to read that crap.

It didn't bother me too much when I read it, people will always use stupid derogatory terms, but you are right, we shouldn't have to put up with it. Nobody should.

:wavey: Hi. I thought that you made a very good point here. I'm a teenage guy, and I'm a fan of Maria. Yes I think she is hot and that's is probably what attracted me to her at first 2 years ago. But there are other things I like about her, not just her looks and her body. I hate when people assume that you are only a fan of Maria because you are a teenage boy and it's all your hormones. I like her game as well. :D

What I hate most about that term is that it makes us look like we only like Maria for her looks, and that's not true, not true at all.

On one of the polling threads threads, I did point out that PovaPartisan was a preferable term.

PovaPartisan is better, but for some reason I really hate the nickname "Pova" for Maria, it's not because I find it rude or anything, just a personal preference.

Glad to see I'm not alone, and I have never really liked Masha that much either, I prefer Maria.

Pova is bad because it is disrespectful. It isn't a real diminutive of her name, its just a generic ending. Some people just use it because it sounds dismissive. In fact its just like calling Jackson - Kson

I don't like "Sharpie" as a nickname for Maria because the dictionary-definition of sharpie is "a dishonest and cunning person, especially a cheat."

I don't think many people are aware of this meaning, but semantically it's as bad as calling her "Cheaterova".
