Most of the players ranked between 7 and 15 have about the same number of safe points after Miami. There could be some real movement in the rankings in the beginning of the year. Jelena Jankovic quite possibly could be at # 6 by the end of the U.S. claycourt swing.

Nope. I know she has won ITF Dubai last December (that's why she is now ahead of Hantuchova in the rankings) and played another ITF event on the last week of November but it was 2005. I am talking about this year points. And if Marion doesn't defend her ITF points (and I believe she doesn't) she will be ranked 18th with 951 points gained and 31 tournaments played like I've indicated. :wavey:

Dubai Dec 2005 is included in WTA 2006 final year end ranks  :wavey:

the new WTA year starts from the week after the WTA Champs finished.

It's so incredible that svetlana has 3 75 point tournament that aren't used  So many people would kill for only one of those!

Did Jankovic really have ten losses in a row this year? That is very funny (to me)!

yes, I know. But I wanted to show how many points and when players had to defend next year that's why I didn't include 2005 points in the rankings.

if miami wasn't mandatory, safina would be ranked ahead of vaidisova. but that's the only difference in the top 20.
