Stephanie is presently playing in the finals of this 50k against Julie Ditty, such a great chance for her to win her first ever 50k :D

So far this week she beat Melikishvili, Tweety-Yates, Arn and De Los Rios in what was one of the weirdest ITF in a while, especially with those horrible weather conditions (nearby tornadoes, temperatures close to the freezing point, etc).

She just won 6-3 7-6 :bounce: :worship:

She'll go up to 122 with this win, what a great way to finish her season!

CONGRATS STEPH! :worship: She defeated Julie Ditty..who had an AMAZING week if you see who she defeated:worship: I hope she can keep up her solid play in San Diego so she can play in Australia.
Good luck to Steph in San Diego ( if she decided to stil play ). If not..then good luck at the Aussie Qualis. I think she will be seeded in the Quali Draw now :bounce:

She won't play San Diego. She is done for the year now. She actually thought about playing another tourney to maybe get in Aus Open, but with her foot injury and her fatigue, she thought it was better to qualify for it. She'll definitely be in the top 10 seeds now though :D

if you are going to put this in GM can we please get a regular results thread title then, ie:

Atlanta 50K final: Stephanie Dubois d Julie Ditty 63 76(6)

thanks so much.

report (copied from Challengers forum)

Ditty had her chances today and if she would have played anywhere near as well as yesterday, she would have won comfortably. Dubois was not really on her game for much of the match but came up with good shots when it counted. Ditty missed several breakpoints to lead 2-0 in the first set, and then led 5-2 in the second set with 2 breaks, but nerves and fatigue took over and she didn't come close to winning any of the next four games. At 5-6 Ditty was down matchpoint at 30-40, and she served 4 straight let serves, then missed her first serve, then hit a let second serve so everybody was going crazy from the suspense! But she got her second serve in and won the point and held serve to force the tiebreaker. The tiebreaker was the best tennis of the day with very dramatic points. Dubois hit some punishing down-the-line forehand winners while Ditty won several points with excellent pressure volleys and also a difficult smash. Ditty won an amazing long point of at least 25 strokes with a lefty forehand winner to tie it up at 5-5, then hit an ace to go up 6-5 and have a setpoint. Unluckily for her, Dubois played a perfect point that she finished by pounding an untouchable backhand down the line, then followed it with another bruising baseline point for 7-6, and then Ditty clipped the tape with her second serve and it went just long for a DF, a tough way to lose the match in front of what was basically a home crowd for her.

Also: Everybody loved Dubois's French Canadian accent when she was speaking English at the ceremony. As for Ditty, she is one of the quietest players on court that i've seen, no come on's after winners, no whining after missed shots, no grunting, nothing.
