Pironkova def Venus AO R1, i mean there's not aklot of players in their 1st ever slam match that beat the then Wimbledon Champion, 9-7 in the 3rd and bagel her in the 2nd set  plus it really hurt for us Vee fans for a while  but i got over it and now i love tszveti :D

This was surely one of the biggest upsets in 2006. The fact Venus lost but also she lost in the 1st round.

It was an upset yes, but not the biggest, Stosur was and is top 50 and she has other solid results in her career

But it was Lindsay's first match in months, and Stosur always gives Linds fits for some reason :o

Oh don't remind me :tape:

But it was Lindsay's first match in months, and Stosur always gives Linds fits for some reason :o

I thinks its because Stosur is very solid, not much goes wrong in her game, good serves, can come to the net can rally from the back, lindsay would much prefer someone who tries to slug it out with her from the baseline and outhit her, cause theres not alot of ppl who can do it :D

Pironkova d Venus
Jankovic d Venus
Razzano d Hingis
Sugiyama d Hingis
Jackson d Sharapova
Vaidisova d Mauresmo (FO)

I think Vaidisova beating Venus was bigger, Mauresmo's track record at RG shows she always folds in the big matches out on Phillipe Chatrier, Mauresmo lost it completley after the 1st set that match, against Venus, Vaidisova had to fight harder because she knew Vee was never gonna go away and her mental strength in that final set really impressed me

Jankovic def Venus, Wimbledon R3 was a big upset aswell, other than Rome and RG, Jankovic had done crap all year and Venus was playing well in her earlier rounds plus it was grass not just anyone can beat Vee on grass this millenium, thats the win which really gave Jankovic a ton of confidence because it was sooooo close in the end, im not sure her US hardourt season would have been as good if Vee had of pulled that one out in the end

I have to agree, Sam also has a nasty kick serve that she would use to Lindsay's forehand and just wore Linds out. Lindsay had a lot of trouble reading Sam's serve both in LA and in New Haven (also I think the first time they played it was a close 2 setter).
That's when her arm started acting up, was in NH semis against Sam too.

But I was going to say this match for this thread, but because it was Lindsay first match since March I'm willing to let it slide. ;)
