View Full Version : Who will win the 2007 Australian Open?

Seles, Hingis

Take a stab now. I reckon Henin, Sharapova, Clijsters and Mauresmo are the faves, but you can never count oit the Williams' and Davenport.

There's already been a thread on this. Try doing a search next time before you make a duplicate thread.

To answer your question. I'd say Sharapova, Henin, and Hingis have the best shot. Momo, imo, will choke.

Don't immediately belittle the new poster. He/she has only arrived to the forum and didn't realise that there was already a thread....

jelena dokic! no just kidding.... it would have to be amelie, maria, justine, or maybe one of the williams girls.... also look out for nadia petrova, svetlana kuznetsova, clijsters and the serbian girls jankovic/ivanovic to make the quarters or semis

I think Martina will give it a rattle - probably semis or something. Kim will be back, and Im sure she will not have much of a holiday as she's had so much time off before the off-season. Justine will give it a fair go, as will Amelie.

As an outside, I think Anastasia will return to some fine form. Her two Q's speak for themselves.

Between Justine, Maria and Amelie, I'm interested to see who will be the betting favorite.
If another player wins, I'd guess there are another 6 or 7 players with a chance.

Kim, Sveta, Martina, Serena, Venus, and Nadia all have the ability to play well enough to be threats.

I'm interested in how some of the younger player do, like Nicole, Anna C, Jelena.
I don't expect any of them to win this major.

i think justines success at YEC and ending the year #1, plus her retirement last year will have her mega pumped up to win! she'll be really motivated.

I personally dont see amelie having such a good year next year, i think she might struggle with the pressure of repeating last years success.

I agree with the Amelie part.

Kim or Justine. If they are in opposite halves this will be the final. If in the same half Justine will make it through

Quarters: Sharapova, Clijsters, Davenport, Henin Hardenne, Mauresmo, Jankovic, Vaidisova, Kuznetsova.

Semis: Sharapova, Clijsters, Henin Hardenne, Jankovic

Hm, I'd say Kim, but it's very open isn't it. It'll be either Kim, Justine, Maria or Amélie, can't see anyone else take the cup :)

Shouldn't we wait for the tournaments before AO, especially Sydney? They will show the form of top players.

I think Svetlana Kuznetsova will finally get her second slam. Sharapova, Clijsters, Henin-Hardenne, and possibly Serena and Petrova will be the other contenders in my opinion.

Nov 17th, 2006, 08:40 PM
henin or sharapova, but maybe vaidisova can do well and jankovic. they will be kinda suprise packages. not a big suprise cos they are top players but a little mildly shocking suprise

Nov 17th, 2006, 09:00 PM
Jankovic could be a good bet, although if she starts of as slow as she did this season maybe not.

Would love to see Davenport give it her all, surely shes in the final stretch before retirement now.

Hingis, did well on her comeback and could definately stand a chance but i just dont think she is capable of it yet.

Henin, what can i say? hate the bitch but she plays amazing tennis, if she plays as well as she has been its deserved.

Sharapova, probably will it i think.

Nov 17th, 2006, 09:02 PM
I hope either LenaD or Vee will win it but more realistic id just hope neither JHH, Mauresmo or Sharapova win it its getting boring with those 3 winning everything

I really think Hingis has a great chance!!

well,is pretty tough for her to go that far,but maybe a qf prediction is better for now!

mashamaniac
Nov 17th, 2006, 10:00 PM
the winner,IMO,will be found from masha or henin and or momo.alike this year they'll have probably the most hardest competition for gaining YEC #1 spot.of course if kim's really insisting to retire next year, she must play as good to be one of top 4 contenders, though it seems to be impossible!

Well, first of all I hope all the players will be healty for the Australian Open. This Grand Slams gives me an exciting feeling in my stomach, because I then haven't seen tennis for about two months you know. I think everyone has that feeling. I hope, well you can predict it, that one of the Williams sisters will win it. But I give Henin-Hardenne and Sharapova also good chances. I really really hope that there will be an All Williams final:D
