this is put up on the justine henin-hardenne official site (http://www.henin-hardenne.be/bin/index.asp?lang=fr) (french). I've fed it through google translate:

Contrary to what is appeared in certain daily newspapers (foreign and Belgian), I make a point of specifying that any moment I did not allow myself to attack one or the other player or of the members of their families. In particular, with regard to Kim, I do not ask better than it gets along well with Justine. I really regret that one allotted remarks to me which I did not make during these Masters. Thank you in advance,

thanks!
I hope some people actually believe him.
it's just scandalous that all this was made up, or atleast they pretended he brought up the whole Lei Clijsters stuff again (!!) whereas he did not.
If he puts this on Justine's site right after Kim wrote about it in her diary, to me it's clear that both "clans" do not want any harm done.

well, there was a certain sense of suspicion behind the lei clijsters incident because the quotes in the article were soooo old.

so we presumed that carlos said the EXACT same thing he said long ago, erm, which is a mathematical probability, but nonetheless, erm, not very possible in reality.

so there....please news agencies, not anything to sensationalise or to sell an article.......stick to the truth please? is it that hard to have some integrity?

Gosh it's so annoying, bloody press. Just like in the period of Appelmans VS Monami-Van Roost, the press is trying to create tension, bitchfights and that of stuff between the 2, especially since Kim is from the Dutch speaking part and Justine from the French speaking part of Belgium.

Now some German and Belgian newspapers claim Carlos Rodriguez said he thinks the entire Clijsters crew are hypocrits and yadda yadda yadda... Been going on forever, but Kim and Justine made clear to the press they won't play the games of the press, since the fed cup they really get along again and let's hope it stays like that.

Bloody Belgian press, typical, instead of supporting both, they're trying to create this rivality thingie between them...

Official Statement From Carlos Rodriguez
11-17-2006

Contrary to what is appeared in certain daily newspapers (International, and Belgian), at no point did I say comments which attacked a player, players or members of their families. In regards to Kim, I cannot say enough how much I appreciate her relationship with Justine.

I did not say those comments at the Masters Madrid. I regret the misunderstanding, and disappointment these comments may have caused which were wrongly quoted in my name.

Thank you in advance,

Carlos

I thought something was weird about the DPA article, because someone else posted an interview with Justine and they asked directly about Maria trying to force her to say something rude. And Justine didn't, she likes Maria and think it's great for people to be able to follow diverse characters on tour. And yeah.. the Lei quotes were old..

Please note Carlos talks about player, players and families, so the Maria quote is fake too. He didn't bash her either.

I didn't think he would make such comments even if he thinks like that...

He's sexy btw :)

not surprised the press would do this.
remember how they often tried to fuel the fire between the Capriati's and William's

Especially in the Belgian press, it sells good. They already tried to fuel fire between Sabine Appelmans and Dominique Van Roost when both were top 20, and partly even got what they wanted. But when they talk about it now, they agree they just fell in the traps of the journalists and it's sad they don't support both, but just try to create this kind of crap. Bah.

Someone posted in the same thread as the incorrect Carlos article.

Justine' s interview is totally different from the fake Carlos quote article, but it's also in Spanish and from a daily newspapers

some times i hope some reporter/journalists/paper/media can pick this statement up, and launch a criticism on that DPA reporter and the agency itself, and those who run that story, are morally obliged to publish a correction of sorts.

what is this journalism if it's so freely empowered to spread lies, rumours and hatred?

but perhaps, i had a too ideal image of the integrity of the media, LOL. ah well.

I had my doubts about those Carlos quotes, I'm glad he clarified things.

Please note Carlos talks about player, players and families, so the Maria quote is fake too. He didn't bash her either.

this is what is posted by Carlos today on the OS:

"En ce qui concerne Maria Sharapova, je ne me permettrais pas de ne pas reconnaître son statut de championne à sa juste valeur. Elle apporte beaucoup au tennis tant sur le court qu'en-dehors."

"And about Maria Sharapova, i would never dare to not recognise her status of a real champion! She brings a lot to the sport! Both on and off court!"

So the Sharapova quotes were made up and the bit about Lei Clijsters was old. I can't believe the press just entirely made it up. I know the press can manipulate and selectively choose quotes to fit their story, but they've definitely gone too far with this.
