1.The Devil Wears Prada and Meryl Streep for her outstanding performance. After that I would say the Queen and Helen Mirren who is fantastic in it but nothing beats Meryl!

emily blunt in devils wear prada was flawless. too bad meryl stole the show but emily's performace was very solid.

i have yet to watch volver, but penelope gained lots of props from the critic.

hellen and meryl are a lock in best actress nom @ oscar next year. hopefully kate will gain some steam.

Helen Mirran The Queen. She's great. She makes The
Queen very human.

Though, I liked Meryl Streep.

The men, I can't think of anything so far that stands out
as an acting performance.

But, I think Dreamgirls is going to be the big Oscar movie.

The previews are incredible, the write ups on it ever fully
opens are great. Audiences are giving it a standing ovation
who have seen it. The American Idol runner up from a few
years ago is said to steal the show from Beyonce.

Was there really a good movie this year? In the past few years???:tape: Well, I am interested to see this new movie, The Fountain, but there's just been so much hype about movies and pop culture. It's probably just me being really negative and nostalgic, but they just don't make them like they used to.

I just hope they put her in as Supporting and not Featured, I don't think she will have a chance up against Helen Mirren.

Meryl in The Devil Wears Prada

Haven't seen The Queen yet but I really want to, just haven't got round to it yet...I hear Helen Mirren is amazing though.

Loved most of the cast in The Departed (although I am always very biased towards Jack Nicholson ;) ) Jack was well good, although the part didn't seem too much of a stretch for him really. I was very impressed by Leo DiCaprio though, quite shocked at how good his performance was.

Haven't seen much else that impressed me this year so far...

My favourite movies were Children of Men and Volver.

Cuaron deserves an Oscar for the cinematography in Children of Men, and I'm no fan of Penelope Cruz, but Almodóvar always brings out the magicin her.
