I know there were roumours of KC retireing after wimby, but she let the truth slip out on her website she says ''for sure i will retire next year and i will play Antwerp this will be my last tennis match in belgium''.What about hasselt? She usually plays hasselt every year this must mean she is sending strong hints out that wimbledon will be sadly KC's last event on the pro tour...........

She said she will marry after Wimbledon then honeymoon... I think she won't play in July and August. US Open if we're lucky.
I want to stay positive but things really look like she'll retire after Wimbledon. She wants to raise a family quickly.
IMO she won't be in Hasselt because she already hesitated about returning to the tournament in 2007 after winning the title this year. She already had her idea!

I heard hasselt will not be part of the WTA calendar next year ...

It is though...

But sometimes the calendar changes during the season so we'll see ;)

There's sponsor problems in Hasselt, it is on the program so far, btu since Gaz de France has withdrawn as a sponsor, new money needs to come in very soon, if not it'll be scrapped. But Kim won't play in Hasselt. She hopes though to qualify for the masters next year.

it's likely to be. she will be married after wimbledon, i don't think she bother flying to US for summer hardcourt season. she might play US Open w/o any warm up tournaments and then Antwerp 2008.

Presumably Hasselts problems are completely unconnected with Kims retirement. :)

I asked Kim this question (if she's gonna play Hasselt) and she told me that she doesn't think that there's going to be a tournament in Hasselt in 2007

Wow. I support Kim's decision, but I always thought she'd play the full season of 2007.

Oh well, I'm still glad she knows what she wants in her life.

There's still a small chance it will exist though, but they'll need a very big sponsor to replace Gaz de France... Which was the main sponsor!

look, you have to understand that hasselt isnt even confirmed to be taking place in 2007 because of sponsor issues. so if that's the case, then antwerp 2007 will obviously be her last tournament on belgian soil

why so many people seem surprised? Kim has said she would retire 2007 or 2008, and some seem not to believe it. She was damn serious (and as a fan of hers I'ld rather she didn't) , so it's gonna depend no personnal circumstances and her health. Why does every day or so a thread appear with the same subject over and over again  it's getting tiring really...
