Does Dementieva still hold the honour or does someone else have it?

I would say Sukova....runner up at the Aust Open twice (to Evert in 1984 and to Navratilova in 1989) and at the US Open twice (to Navratilova in 1986 and to Graf in 1993). She had wins over most of her contemporaries (with the exception of Seles)....

Very unlucky to have run into three of the greatest ever in her GS finals appearances.

She was a good player on all surfaces....managed to beat Evert and Navratilova a few times each (I think she beat both of them in consecutive matches at Eastbourne in the late 80s..although I would need to check that). She had wins over most of her contemporaries (with the exception of Seles)....

Even though I think Nadia had a better year besides that loss streak she had over the summer, I still think Lena D is the best player to never win a slam. She obviously has the talent let's just hope she can win one!

Of the current crop, Nadia probably. If we take into consideration players from other eras, Mary Jo Fernandez, Amanda Coetzer and Anke Huber are right up there.
