Bono sings Kylie's praises

Sunday 12th November '06

The second show of the relaunched Showgirl Homecoming tour had an added extra last night, with U2's Bono makng an appearance to duet with Kylie on Kids. We knew a surprise duet was going to happen - hence the poll on our homepage - but we never saw it being Bono! The Showgirl Homecoming tour is going fantastically well so far, with some amazing additions and changes to the show, including an entirely new wardrobe and heavily 'tweaked' setlist, and has already made news headlines, both in the press and on TV, across the world.

U2 frontman Bono showed his support for Kylie Minogue tonight by singing a duet with the Australian pop singer in Sydney. The duo sang Minogue's hit, Kids, which the singer originally recorded with Brit Robbie Williams, before 10,000 people at the Sydney Entertainment Centre.

"Ladies and gentlemen, we are in the company of greatness tonight," Minogue said. "Let me hear it for Bono."

Minogue was wearing a leopard-print cat suit while Bono rocked it up in a black suit and sunglasses.

"It's such an honour for you to sing with me," Minogue said.

Bono then jumped in and said, "You're perfect".

The pair danced around the stage and Bono got down on his knees, kissed Minogue's hand and thanked her at the end of the duet.

Minogue kicked off her Showgirl Homecoming Tour in Sydney last night. It was the first time she had performed in front of a crowd since being diagnosed with breast cancer in May last year. The London-based 2004 Grammy winner was forced to take a break of more than a year while she underwent treatment. She was diagnosed with cancer just days before she was due to start the final leg of her Showgirl World Tour in Australia. The tour was postponed indefinitely with fans told to hold on to their tickets.

Following Sydney, Minogue and her Showgirl troupe will travel to Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth, before heading back to Europe, playing dates in the UK from January 2. U2 are in Australia performing their Vertigo tour which kicked off in Brisbane then played Sydney on Friday and Saturday nights. Their Australian leg of the tour last March also was postponed due to a family illness of one of the band members, believed to be guitarist David "The Edge" Evans. They restarted the tour in Brisbane last week and will travel to Adelaide, Melbourne and Auckland.

Meanwhile... the new tour has kicked off to a great start, with many fans shocked by the change in setlist from 2005's show. Out have gone tracks such as Je Ne Sais Pas Pourquoi, Your Disco Needs You, Put Yourself In My Place and Giving You Up, amongst others, and in have come Light Years, Turn It Into Love, Too Far, Cowboy Style, a mash-up of Burning Up with Madonna's Vogue (just the rap), and amazing new track White Diamonds, again amongst others. We will have a full show report online shortly... Please note that our forum SayHey has gone down AGAIN :-( today after being hit by several hundred people simultaneously yesterday after news reports of the tour's opening night hit TV news bulletins, but will be back online as soon as possible.

One more article..:) CHECKOUT the designers that she wore!! :hearts:

------------------------------------------------------------------------

SYDNEY, Australia (Nov. 11) - An ornate Kylie Minogue dazzled an adoring homeland crowd Saturday in the diva's triumphant first foray onto the stage since she was diagnosed with breast cancer 18 months ago.

"Good evening Sydney!" were the London-based Australian's first words as she rose on a platform from the center of the stage. "How are you feeling tonight?"

The 2004 Grammy award winner's performance before a sellout crowd of 10,000 was the much anticipated comeback from her shock diagnosis of the potentially fatal disease in May last year just days before the Australian leg of "The Showgirl Tour" was set to begin.

She had successful surgery in her hometown of Melbourne and a course of chemotherapy in Paris, where her French actor boyfriend, Olivier Martinez, has a home.

During her recovery, she wrote a children's book, "The Showgirl Princess" and launched her own perfume, "Darling."

The 38-year-old former soap opera teen star wore a pink feathered headdress and flowing gown by designer John Galliano to kick off her renamed "Showgirl Homecoming Tour."

She also wore a dazzling bejeweled pink corset as she launched the concert with her classic hit "Better The Devil You Know."

Minogue went on to sing dance smash "In Your Eyes," as well as a new song, "White Diamond," which she penned with the American kitsch disco group The Scissor Sisters .

An energetic Minogue also rolled out favorites "On A Night Like This," "Shocked," "Spinning Around" and "Confide In Me."

"Are you ready for your 15 minutes of fame? Do you like what you see?" Minogue asked her cheering audience.

As well as outfits by Galliano, Minogue donned costumes by designers Gareth Pugh, Dolce & Gabbana, Karl Lagerfeld and Emilio Pucci.

After Australia, Minogue will travel back to Europe , playing dates in Britain from Jan. 2.

I went to the U2 show in Sydney last night... and there were one or two moments at the end of some songs where Bono would just start singing "I should be so lucky, lucky, lucky lucky" or "I'm spinning around..." and start dancing

A lot of lyrics with mention of Kylie in them as well, just for the Aussie references.

Kylie's Return
Updated 04:41 PST Sun, Nov 19 2006

Kylie Minogue's current "Showgirl Homecoming" tour will be filmed for a DVD when it reaches her hometown of Melbourne early December.

A DVD was issued last year from the original "Showgirl" U.K. dates. This time around a DVD will calpture the Aussie Leg of the tour.

But the singer has changed her three-hour show around to include new songs, eight costumes from top designers, and a $10 million video and laser show that moves the show's backdrops from nightclub to gym to sci-fi.
Minogue, who postponed her tour 18 months ago after being diagnosed with breast cancer, made a triumphant return before 10,000 at the Sydney Entertainment Centre November 11.

"It was one of the most emotional nights, to see her back onstage," said Frontier Touring head Michael Gudinski, who stood out front watching the show. "Her family is family to me, and to see her able to go back onstage and in control was a mixture of relief and pride. Deep down I knew she'd be back onstage."

U2's Bono joined Minogue on her second Sydney show. The Irish supergroup, which played to 70,000 the night before, sent her flowers with a note, "We'll be your support act any time" and added they were coming to the show.
After a hasty run-through in the dressing room, Minogue and Bono did a version of "Kids," which she recorded with Robbie Williams.

The night before, a row broke out over fans who paid for $203.50 tickets at U2's show in Sydney's Telstra Stadium and ended up seated behind sound equipment and a merchandising tent.

Fans who queued up overnight to get good seats have asked Ticketek for a partial refund, The Sydney Morning Herald reported.

Ticketek told the newspaper that U2 had changed the stage set at the last minute, and that their staff had offered to move affected fans to another area.

Promoter Michael Coppel Presents said the stage set was not changed but that the mixing desk had to be moved. The company said it would have offered full discounts to anyone who had complained before the show.

I most definitely will buy the dvd. And as soon as she will come to The Netherlands I'm gonna make sure to buy a ticket.
She's truly a pop princess and I hope she has a lot of years to come.
