Since Anna is off until next year, I figured this would be a good time to ask.

I started following her career during Rogers Cup this year. :)

how about you? ;)

The first time I actually saw Anna play (on TV) was New Haven 2005, SF against Davenport. Although she lost, she played rather well exceeding my expectation. Just a week later I went to US Open and checked out her 1st rd match (against Kutuzova, I think) live. She won in tight 3 sets. A few days later, I again saw her playing Dementieva live at USO 3rd round, going all the way to 3rd set tiebreak but lost. I began to really pay attention to Anna after this string of events.

Very well!!! I say to you that from the year 2005 Chakvetadze he is my favorite player and it she was never changing for my! What I remember was the dramatist Anna Chakvetadze's match vs. Elena Dementieva In the Grandstand of the US Open with victory for Lena 6-1 4-6 7-6 though Anna I am overawed could win, quite her I me please, your game, his anger in the court, the Princess's braid! Go shouts of the players! A spectacle.

She first appeared on my radar with the victory over Myskina at US Open 04, although I didn't see the match. I was in Boston at the time and I swear the Brits get better US Open coverage than the Americans.

Anyway I kept a check on her results and became a big fan probably around the time of Roland Garros and the English grass court season of 2005. And I finally got signed up to WTAworld just after that so that probably helped cement it.

Since French Open 2005 when she lost to Sharapova... and US OPEN 2005 when she lost to Dementieva I realized I like Anna more than Elena :)

In 2004 at the US Open Qualies, my daughter and I caught a bit of Anna's match against Tatarkova. She seemed like she had some talent so I made a mental note of her name. A few days later we saw her on the Armstrong Court against Myskina. Anastasia was not at her best, but Anna played a great match in winning in straight sets. She also showed herself to be a charismatic player who wears her heart on her sleeve. Anna gained a lot of fans that day, including me.

I became a fan after I saw her play in person in Miami last year where she lost to Kirilenko 5-7 3-6.

I had seen Anna's name, I see a lot of players' names in ITF draws and results.
The first time I thought she had a real future was the 2003 KC, where in the qualies she beat Husarova and lost a close 3 setter to Pisnik.

They were decent pros and I wrote in her cheering thread then that she could be a real good one.

This is page 3 of Anna's cheering thread -

Wow, that's impressive. Playing Husarova and Pisnik is like playing a tier III. This is a good chance for Anna to see what the WTA tour is like.
Davai Anna!!

After she beat Lena D. on back-to-back tournaments--including the Kremlin Cup--I did some checking and not only is she quite beautiful, but she seems so sweet and natural.

I hope '07 will be her coming out party. :)

Cheers,

Carlos

The first time I heard of Anna is when she gave Masha a tough match at LA last year. Then I saw part of her match against Elena at the USO and was very impressed with what I saw. From then on I have followed her results and have supported her!

January 2007 is a distinct possibility for me - subject to Anna passing an evaluation for induction into my Eternal Fanship.

I've been a demi-fan of Anna since I saw her play Maria Sharapova (http://geocities.com/andrewbroad/tennis/shara/) at the French Open 2005 (http://geocities.com/andrewbroad/tennis/shara/french_open2005.html). At first, I liked her simply because she is ultracute! But her game has improved so much this year: now I can say that she has flairsome power on her groundstrokes.

The evaluation-process to decide whether I will induct Anna into my Eternal Fanship is underway after I recently acquired some DVDs from Tennis Videos International (http://www.users.bigpond.com/tennisvideos1/).

I must say I have been very impressed by Anna so far. I already knew that she was ultracute, with lots of lovely mannerisms, and had developed flairsome power between Birmingham 2005 and Birmingham 2006, but now I have a deeper appreciation of her ability to generate angles on her forehand, and just how clever she is when she looks beaten in a rally, but knows exactly what shot to hit to make life awkward for her opponent.

I just watched the Moscow-final for the first time, and I was amazed by how bravely she served out the match despite looking horribly nervous just before and during the very last game. That's the thing about Anna - she often shows negative emotions and brilliant tennis at the same time!

When I saw her whoop Petrova's butt at the Kremlin Cup final. :) From that point on, I was happily enlisted in the army of Anna Chakvetadze. lol ;)

I follow Anna first in the middle of 2005, but the first time I see Anna in tv is during the match against Dementieva and I was impatient to watch on tv!

Then from US Open I follow Anna with more and more attention and in 2006 she become my favourite tennis Player.
