It's probably in best interest for Makiri to hang up the tennis racket this closing 2006 season and rest her weary body. I was kinda surprised that she kept her name on the players list at the Hasselt tourney considering she was still hampered with the hip injury. Just rest, recollect your thoughts, regroup, and most importantly enjoy your time off Makiri before the start of the 2007 season.;):)

Agreed... I doubt the tournament was gonna do her any good if she was still plagued with injury and either forced to withdraw during the 1st match or lose again... She really needs to utilise this time she has by taking a break to start with & not getting straight into preparations, its time to relax!

Take care Makiri!

I know, it's odd to have fans wanting their favourite to withdraw :o but in this case, I think it's very justifiable why we're happy.

I wasn't criticizing you, sorry for the confusion - I was just saying that Maria is sinking so deep that we got to the point of getting happy she's not playing! The magnitude of the thing is beyond us - it means a really bad, bad thing for Maria.

Maria should've stopped playing weeks ago. She wouldn't have injured her hip if she had. This withdrawal is smart. The last thing she needs is to show up and retire during the match again. Right now she needs to get awau from tennis completely for about a month. Get healthy. Clear the head. Then it is time to regroup and redicate herself to tennis. A year ago at this time, everything seemed so promising. Now, it is so unclear. It is pretty clear that a lot of things need to change when it comes to her game. Maria has to decide to make the changes to help her succeed.

It seemed at times down the stretch of the season that something was bothering Maria. Now I don't know what exactly it was. It could've just been the losing, but I think there was something on top of the losing. Whatever it is, she needs to deal with it. It isn't good to have something bothering you when playing. Hopefully Maria will get everything straightened out and come out flying in 2007

I hope Masha has a nice offseason and can develope a life outside of tennis. :) I think that would help her realize that tennis isn't everything. Masha and her game seemed so worn down the second half of this season and I'm concerned that this will carry over into next year. :( But I hope that Maria comes out fresh and ready to roll in 2007. :yeah:
