Schnyder has replaced Elena at Hasselt. No more tournaments for the year and unknown plans for 2007.

I think it is the end. Elena has had a poor year, and I don't see her trying to qualify for tournaments anymore...

:bigcry:

:crying2:

didn't she say 2006 is her last year?

She's never offically said it would be her last year, but, her quotes have ceratinly, a retirement feel about them.

She said she would carry on if she was in the top 20, this hasn't happened.

The last news she answered is this, in her thread.

Meanwhile, on court number 1 practically instantly Elena Likhovtseva took a win in 46 minutes over Maria Elena Camerin: 6-0 6-1 After that we asked our 31 years old veteran if she had make a final decision about completion of her carrer or it's continuation.
Loknovtseva, who is in good form and will play vs ALG or Nadia Petrova in next round answered: "After the moment when i have said that this season, probably, will be the last one for me, I have received such kind of questions a lot of times. But i can answer only after few weeks - after the end of the season"

Not very positive.

Lena also would like children, which doesn't help :(

I hope she doesn't retire fully from the tour.
I still think she has a couple of mixes doubles slams in her.

Sometimes it's appropriate for older players to get about the business of making a bunch of young players.

Good luck to her with whatever she decides to do.

I think she will retire because this year has been a disappointment, and Elena has always made it sound she's not keen on playing too much here-after.

lena  :tears:

She was. A lot of people misunder-estimate her. I mean, who thought she'd reach a Tier 1 final and GS SF like she did.

Elena won't play doubles only
