Not surprised that Ai and Dani couldn't make it (again) :( There's only 4 spots and they needed to be consistent all year rather than have a few good results here and there.

The WTA should follow the ATP's example and open up an extra 4 spots for YEC doubles. There's plenty of good teams out there and had they done that, Virginia and Pascual could've made it to Madrid and attracted more Spanish fans.

true, that's 1 thing that larry scott isn't gonna integrate - 8 doubles teams at the YEC in a round robin format like the atp masters cup, 4 just isn't enough & doesn't give doubles enough exposure. sad, isn't it.

Maybe it's because women's doubles doesn't have a team as dynamic as the Bryan brothers. That's why Larry Scott should do something to entice the Williams sisters back on the scene, otherwise there's no point even having a doubles YEC :help:

yeah, if u got most of the women's top 10 & 20 singles players playin doubles frequently then the YEC doubles would get a huge boost & receive more exposure.

A lot of the top mens doubles players don't even play singles.

It's a totally different disclipline...why don't people get that? It requires so many different shots that you don't get in singles, not to mention the right chemistry with a partner. Players like Sharapova or Vaidisova are NOT doubles players. They play singles on a doubles court. They could play a full doubles schedule and crack the top 50 at most.

Dani/Ai  If only you hadn't had so many spotty results all year long :sobbing: Hopefully 2007 will bring better days... we're all hoping :)

I also agree that a three-match tournament sucks  If only they had an RR, it would be much better than even the RR on the ATP Doubles. The teams are so much funner to watch on WTA, you know?
