I would just like to say Vera the way you reacted and helped and comforted Mary was so nice and satisfying to watch.

You did not just stand and watch like another Russian watching a French woman in pain

You are a great person and you deserve more respect :D

this shows that whenever she gets angry, its at herself. i'm glad that despite whatever emotions she goes through on court, she's got a good head on her shoulders and a good heart too. Peng and Pierce. honestly, not many players would do what she did. i didn't watch the sharapova-golovin match, so i wont say anything, but i did watch pratt vs morigami and pratt was a total cow there.

go vera!

Twice in one year she comes to the aide of an injured or ill opponent. True class and sportsmanship.
I've been a fan of Vera's since 2004 and I have always enjoyed her headcase character but she truly has a big heart and sound head on her shoulders.
She deserves nothing but praise for her kindness.

Keeping in mind how competitive tennis is nowadays, I think Vera's gesture shows tremendous sportsmanship and especially humanity. But I wish those kind of gestures weren't so surprising to us, because if it's surprising, it means it doesn't happen much. Which is sad

I already loved Vera. I just love her even more now. It's always fun to know for sure that the player you like is REALLY a good person with a big heart :)

Yeh, dunno how great sportsmanship gestures r surprising 2 us all. it should happen more often which would make women's tennis even greater & better (no offence). and vera  is just another one of those who goes out of her way 2 show heart towards opponents that have been hurt or injured.

Horrible day for vera. it was a tightly fought match and they both suffered from bad line calling but there was something going on betwen the two of them when they hit out in rallies - rather as if Vera wanted to see what it was like to rally against one of the really big hitters in tennis history and was having fun doing it. Then we get the awful scream and poor Vera finds herself trying to help pick up the pieces - well done Vera.

I've always liked Bepa...she's had her share of heartbreaks, and it was nice to see what she did today (although it was necessary since the stupid WTA Tour/Linz Committee didn't have anyone immediately attending to what was an obvious emergency injury) because she embodied what sport should be. Playing to win, but having compassion and unity with fellow competitors. It was a touching moment on reflection afterwards.

It wouldn't surprise me if Bepa went to go and visit Mary at the hospital because she looked genuinely mortified and concerned for Mary's condition. Great sportsmanship and conduct Bepa! That deserves an award!
