Finally!! Ana versus Maria: who will win?AaronJoyB Oct 26th, 2006, 04:51 PM Finally a real catfight! RenaSlam. Shes too tough and in great form right now. Nicolás89 Oct 26th, 2006, 04:52 PM for some reason i think ana will win:sad: new-york Oct 26th, 2006, 04:52 PM you can do it Ana!!! :armed: LMK Oct 26th, 2006, 04:53 PM Hopefully it will be Ana! franny Oct 26th, 2006, 04:57 PM Hopefully Maria will prove that she is the more talented youngster. Maria has superior everything, except maybe volleys or variety. She is faster, tougher, has a bigger serve, and her forehand when on is just as deadly. Hopefully Maria will be extra motivated tomorrow to hand a beatdown. I'm not saying she will, but I'm hoping she will. I'm so excited! Ferosh Oct 26th, 2006, 04:57 PM C'mon Maria! LindsayRulz Oct 26th, 2006, 04:58 PM Ana! s_j Oct 26th, 2006, 04:58 PM I'm sorry but obviously Maria will win. More consistent and developed serve in which she can do more with, better backhand, better movement, far better mentality. It could be a good match but Maria is the almost certain winner. Craigy Oct 26th, 2006, 04:58 PM Maria's gonna win! morningglory Oct 26th, 2006, 04:59 PM Maria hasn't lost to a younger opponent and I'm quite sure she has no reason to do so now... barring injury and retirement, Maria should come thru Lunaris Oct 26th, 2006, 04:59 PM With good 1st serve Ana will lose but with decent result, without it Sharapova will tear her apart. The Jabberwock Oct 26th, 2006, 05:00 PM I would like Ana to win... please! :bounce: doris_hdz Oct 26th, 2006, 05:00 PM go Ana!!!! Nicolás89 Oct 26th, 2006, 05:00 PM I'm sorry but obviously Maria will win. More consistent and developed serve in which she can do more with, better backhand, better movement, far better mentality. It could be a good match but Maria is the almost certain winner. i dont think "obviously" but i guess you are right i hope for a great match :worship: to both ana and maria Aaron68 Oct 26th, 2006, 05:02 PM I am cautiously optimistic concerning Masha's chances here. Ana can be tough and blast winners from all over the place when she is on. I do feel though that Maria is the more advanced player, at this stage. And her serve has been dominant for a while now. But let's face it: This is the match-up that women's tennis needs. I can only hope that this is the first in a long line of good matches between two talented and beautiful (and tall!) ladies. John. Oct 26th, 2006, 05:03 PM Masha will win dizoo Oct 26th, 2006, 05:03 PM i'd like both to lose...but i think maria will beat ana in 2 tough sets ioni Oct 26th, 2006, 05:04 PM maria :) bellascarlett Oct 26th, 2006, 05:06 PM and I get to watch this match! :woohoo: good thing TTC is showing from the quarters! :) Maria got a good start in her first match, quite a challenge in the 1st set which will do her good in this match against Ana as she'll be more ready. If Maria serves very well and continues to be mentally and physically strong on important points, she'll win this. Ana can play though but I'm banking on Maria's good form and great record against younger opposition. :) Let's go Masha!!! madame_maria Oct 26th, 2006, 05:09 PM i think Maria would have to fight for this one. i'd expect her to be yelling her lungs off. GO MARIA! saki Oct 26th, 2006, 05:10 PM I thought Ana was a few months older than Maria? Anyway, Pova is obviously the better player but I do wonder whether she's a bit tired at this point in the season. She's played and travelled a lot - U.S. --> Moscow --> Zurich --> Linz - whereas Ana should be fresh and a bit more motivated. Just Do It Oct 26th, 2006, 05:10 PM Ana is in good form, so i think she will surprise Maria ! Supercake Oct 26th, 2006, 05:12 PM Anita! :rocker2: Dexter Oct 26th, 2006, 05:12 PM I'll be happy if Ana wins more than 4 games  I don't put my hopes up to avoid disappointment. I thought Ana was a few months older than Maria? no. Maria was born in April(?), whilst Ana in November 1987. ;) Belco Oct 26th, 2006, 05:13 PM ana enuf said ioni Oct 26th, 2006, 05:14 PM I thought Ana was a few months older than Maria? NeverSayDie Oct 26th, 2006, 05:36 PM Hopefully Ana..... shirley Oct 26th, 2006, 05:43 PM maria will win in straight sets faboozadoo15 Oct 26th, 2006, 05:44 PM Ana at this point doesn't do anything as well as Maria. Maria should take this in straights, but hopefully Ana will take something from the match and from Maria's intensity to see what it takes to be a great tennis player. msharafan Oct 26th, 2006, 05:46 PM im not sure maria looked really tired today but if she plays her best and seems energised then i think she will win but like i said i thought she looked fairly tired today! flyguydsl Oct 26th, 2006, 05:52 PM As usual, plenty of denial where Maria Sharapova is concerned! Maria will edge Ana in two tough sets. I wouldn’t say she looked very tired today. I guess she just didn’t want to waste her energy in a match that was going under her total control. She was pretty relaxed and even smiled sometimes :) But yeah, she plays too much tennis recently, and it definitely can be an issue tomorrow:( I hope, not. Lulu. Oct 26th, 2006, 06:06 PM For once I'll root for Maria. Please kick Ivanovic's ass :) the cat Oct 26th, 2006, 06:08 PM I think Ana will win in 3 sets 5-7 6-4 6-3. Ana is rested and fresh while Masha is tired and playing at less than 100%. If Ana beats Masha tomorrow it will be the first time Masha has ever lost a singles match to a younger tennis player on any level of tennis in her brilliant young career. BigBabeTENNIS Oct 26th, 2006, 06:09 PM will be A GREAT MACTH einna Oct 26th, 2006, 06:12 PM i love both players but i like Ana more so go Ana!!!! mashamaniac Oct 26th, 2006, 06:26 PM there's no chance that masha is the winner! however i'm also one of ana's big fans but i'm a masha's biggest fan. bis2806 Oct 26th, 2006, 06:27 PM Come on ANA! Sharapova 6-2 6-0. MrSerenaWilliams Oct 26th, 2006, 08:13 PM Maria in 2. Her game is too solid Sharakim Oct 26th, 2006, 08:15 PM Maria might look tired, but mentally I think she's the much stronger player. Maria in 3 sets (4-6, 6-3, 6-3) beats Ivanovic. Reiken Oct 26th, 2006, 08:27 PM i can't decide. tennisrox Oct 26th, 2006, 08:29 PM Maria is the better player at this point. lilimi Oct 26th, 2006, 08:52 PM ana has everything to beat sharapova 60 60. but i think ana won(t play well because of the pressure and that maria will be saved by her serve. so maria will win sth like 57 64 60 (i noticed that maria is really strong to let opponents win a set and then wake up...). but my heart will be with ana i'm a girl and the more i see her, the more i'm falling in love with her. i love evrything, her game, her fists are cute, her 'ajde'! lilimi Oct 26th, 2006, 08:54 PM Maria in 2. Her game is too solid i agree but it's too ugly too:sad: whereas ana:hearts: :hearts: :hearts: :hearts: :hearts: :hearts: :hearts: :hearts: :hearts: i love you ana!!!   Filippo-Nastya Oct 26th, 2006, 09:00 PM I think Maria in 2 sets: 7-5, 7-6 xXSarajevoXx Oct 26th, 2006, 09:12 PM Anci :) Ben. Oct 26th, 2006, 09:37 PM maria obviously in 2 sets, but ana will make those 2 sets hell for her let me assure u. both of them have very good groundies but maria's consistency, movement, determination & mental toughness will see her through over ana. Ems__ Oct 26th, 2006, 10:19 PM I rarely make risky predictions but I actually think Ana will surprise Maria morningglory Oct 26th, 2006, 10:26 PM perfect! an evening match! Maria should have plenty of time to rest... Sorry people, but Masha is too good to lose to Ana when Maria's on form! maddogz48 Oct 26th, 2006, 10:46 PM Unfortunately Sharapova is going to win. She is currently in better form than Ana. Ana's form has fallen off since she won the Roger's Cup this summer. Buitenzorg Oct 26th, 2006, 10:53 PM Ana 1-6 7-6 7-6 ezekiel Oct 26th, 2006, 11:28 PM Anybody have a livestream for tomorrow ??? blumaroo Oct 26th, 2006, 11:31 PM It's not even on tv so no livestream either. Maria will win. Ana's serving is always inconsistent and she has more mental lapses than Maria. Plus Maria can hit just as big (overall) and can make her move and Ana is in trouble when she has to run. Especially on her backhand side. I'm curious who will dictate the rallies. Stupid scheduling :( -jenks- Oct 26th, 2006, 11:33 PM Ajde Ana! Play your best! iPatty Oct 26th, 2006, 11:35 PM Hopefully Ana wins so Patty can cruise into the final. But seriously, I think Maria will win 6-4, 6-2. She's too good for Ana right now. mashamaniac Oct 26th, 2006, 11:40 PM It's not even on tv so no livestream either. Maria will win. Ben. Oct 27th, 2006, 01:54 AM although even if think maria will win this match, i won't be surprised if ana can pull off the upset in 2 or 3 sets. anything can happen in tennis u no. Derek. Oct 27th, 2006, 02:00 AM Tear that hoe down, Masha. :fiery: Farina Elia Fan Oct 27th, 2006, 02:00 AM come on Ana!!! cr_ar_4ever Oct 27th, 2006, 02:09 AM Maria in straight sets jamatthews Oct 27th, 2006, 02:26 AM I had a hunch in LA about Dementieva, and I have a hunch here about Ana as well. Buitenzorg Oct 27th, 2006, 02:28 AM Finally :bounce: star Oct 27th, 2006, 02:43 AM Maria in straight sets. Maybe. Corswandt Oct 27th, 2006, 02:56 AM Plus Maria can hit just as big (overall) and can make her move and Ana is in trouble when she has to run. Especially on her backhand side. Yes, that is Ana's main weakness, but I doubt Maria will have that many opportunities to move Ana around. Because of one thing we can be sure: Ana will just let it rip on anything that isn't a 175+ km/h ace, and Maria isn't fast enough to absorb Ana's first strike. Judging from what I saw vs Radwanska, Ana now has a much higher first serve % and her second serve seems much improved, so Maria can't afford to give away any service games with needless errors and expect to easily break back - and still I feel she'll get broken more often than she's expecting, given that Ana blasts away her opponent's serves better than just about anybody else (unless of course Ana doesn't get the hang of returning Maria's serve). The outcome ultimately depends on two things: I) what kind of effort is Maria willing to put into this match - i.e. does she really *want* to win this tournament, or is she already thinking of the YEC? Will she be focused and play like she did on the second set vs Daniilidou, huge serve and all? II) as I said, I think Ana will attempt to attack just about anything but unreturnable serves (and possibly even those) that Maria sends her way - the issue then will be how many of those shots from Ana will land in, because no way is Maria going to reach them This will be an extreme match either way. For both players, it will be: "lose control of a rally and all you can do is pray for a UE". maxomax Oct 27th, 2006, 03:01 AM I like both but I think Masha will win! ~lollipop_girl~ Oct 27th, 2006, 03:09 AM Match up of the year anyone? :p j/k Its certainly really exciting and I hope it turns out to be the high quality match it deserves to be & should be...
