Hopefully Maria will prove that she is the more talented youngster. Maria has superior everything, except maybe volleys or variety. She is faster, tougher, has a bigger serve, and her forehand when on is just as deadly. Hopefully Maria will be extra motivated tomorrow to hand a beatdown. I'm not saying she will, but I'm hoping she will. I'm so excited!

I am cautiously optimistic concerning Masha's chances here. Ana can be tough and blast winners from all over the place when she is on. I do feel though that Maria is the more advanced player, at this stage. And her serve has been dominant for a while now.

But let's face it: This is the match-up that women's tennis needs. I can only hope that this is the first in a long line of good matches between two talented and beautiful (and tall!) ladies.

Maria got a good start in her first match, quite a challenge in the 1st set which will do her good in this match against Ana as she'll be more ready.

If Maria serves very well and continues to be mentally and physically strong on important points, she'll win this. Ana can play though but I'm banking on Maria's good form and great record against younger opposition. :)

Ana at this point doesn't do anything as well as Maria. Maria should take this in straights, but hopefully Ana will take something from the match and from Maria's intensity to see what it takes to be a great tennis player.

I wouldn’t say she looked very tired today. I guess she just didn’t want to waste her energy in a match that was going under her total control. She was pretty relaxed and even smiled sometimes :)

I think Ana will win in 3 sets 5-7 6-4 6-3. Ana is rested and fresh while Masha is tired and playing at less than 100%. If Ana beats Masha tomorrow it will be the first time Masha has ever lost a singles match to a younger tennis player on any level of tennis in her brilliant young career. :sad:

maria obviously in 2 sets, but ana will make those 2 sets hell for her let me assure u. both of them have very good groundies but maria's consistency, movement, determination & mental toughness will see her through over ana.

yes it is on eurosport int'l,french and later on eurosport 2.as for livestream i couldn't find a page to see if it's on or not.please search it 2 hours before the match kicked off.

although even if think maria will win this match, i won't be surprised if ana can pull off the upset in 2 or 3 sets. anything can happen in tennis u no.

Yes, that is Ana's main weakness, but I doubt Maria will have that many opportunities to move Ana around. Because of one thing we can be sure: Ana will just let it rip on anything that isn't a 175+ km/h ace, and Maria isn't fast enough to absorb Ana's first strike.

Judging from what I saw vs Radwanska, Ana now has a much higher first serve % and her second serve seems much improved, so Maria can't afford to give away any service games with needless errors and expect to easily break back - and still I feel she'll get broken more often than she's expecting, given that Ana blasts away her opponent's serves better than just about anybody else (unless of course Ana doesn't get the hang of returning Maria's serve).

The outcome ultimately depends on two things:

I) what kind of effort is Maria willing to put into this match - i.e. does she really *want* to win this tournament, or is she already thinking of the YEC? Will she be focused and play like she did on the second set vs Daniilidou, huge serve and all?

II) as I said, I think Ana will attempt to attack just about anything but unreturnable serves (and possibly even those) that Maria sends her way - the issue then will be how many of those shots from Ana will land in, because no way is Maria going to reach them

This will be an extreme match either way. For both players, it will be: "lose control of a rally and all you can do is pray for a UE".

I like both but I think Masha will win!

It was an expected result that Sharapova would win. She is the player currently in the best form at the moment.
