Perhaps Justine should play Gold coast instead of Sydney, which is usually the week before the AO. This would give her a rest before the AO and, therefore, a better chance of winning the Slam. She should avoid playing tournaments the week before Slams. That strategy did not work this year.

Serena never played Sydney since injuring herself there and then having to miss the Australian Open. I don't think that will change this year :p

*too much drama*
Nastya will be back - she's got too much talent, experience and potential to waste.
She needs to get her act together, gether fitness on the right level... but I won't be surprised if she fall asleep untill the grasscourt season again:rolleyes:

I think Serena should really consider playing a warmup tournament before next year's Australian Open.

if Serena was consistently playing tournaments I would agree that she wouldn't need a warmup tournament.

She should probably signup for the Gold Coast tourney and kick Hingis' ass. :) :)

It's an itf sanctioned tourney, so yeah, not really an exo...and they were counting head to heads at one stage - but they can't make up their mind about that!

Anna's worse surface seems to be a slow hard court/rebound ace so this is the right choice for her.

 that would be quite ironic if that happened again. i doubt it will happen though (could be wrong).

exhibitions r events where players don't play at their peek because they don't have the same pressure as the Tour Events they play in. plus if u win those exo matches, it doesn't count towards your H2H record (like elena beating serena last year at hong kong 4 the 1st time but it didn't count on the H2H) & won't gain u ranking pts. but it has the money & LOTS of it

you're right. she needs a whole lot more than warm-up tourneys.

Serena made the 4th rd of the USO
off of 1 warm-up tournament and lost
because her movement wasn't there as
she still was not yet fit enough.

Serena gets in tip top shape
she can walk into any tournament
cold turkey and pull off a win.

you're joking aren't you? The days of the Williams sisters winning a grand slam event without playing a warm up are long gone. Serena is playing in Hobart for a reason don't you think.
