I know its early and all but I thought it would be fun to pick the winner right now! Then, in January, we will look back at this and say "I told ya' so" or "What was I thinking" :haha:
(Oh yeah and pick the finalist as well)

My pick ,based on recent form, is Maria Sharapova :ras: She will gbeta Juju in the final 5-7,6-2,6-1

But watch out for Serena  !

remember Melbourne Park is always unpredictable.

I remember one year in the mens draw most of the top 16 seeds didn't even see the 3rd round.

And womens had a year a few years back where a lot of seeds lost early.

its strange, Amelie has won the most grand slams this year, yet still hardly anyone would pick her as favourite.

No one is looking really dominant at the moment, although it will probably be either Justine/Maria/Amelie/Svetlana

I have a hunch Kim Clijsters will win. I believe she has at least another slam in her future. Australia will be a good chance because she will be fresh. It will be like 2 years ago when a re-motivated Safin wins Aussie Open.

I say this as a Justine fan. Of course I will be happy if Justine wins. If not, Anna Chakvetadze all the way!

I think Serena will win, she's won the past 2 odd years. 2003, and 2005. She really should have won it in 2001 too, but she was deep in her choker phase.

I agree! And also if you look at her pattern this is what happens

1999-US Open Champ
2000-Nothing
2001- US Open Final
2002- Domination :armed:
2003-Slight Domination :wavey:
2004-Finalist
2005-Aussie Open Champ
2006-Nothing
