I think she looks great. She just stepped off a plane, she's not even wearing make-up, and she's a teen-aged girl who dresses to suit her self, not some professional fashion plate who only dresses according to what others deem to be "fashionable". (And she never dresses like a "slut".)

In the US, this is definitely true. I know people who couldn't tell you what the four Slams are, but still know Maria Sharapova.

She's one of those athletes who transcends her sport. Like Michael Schumacher in F1, or Michael Jordan in basketball.

She is SO good for the sport.

Yes, without a doubt. And nearly all high-paid people in the world ALREADY DO THIS.

Especially since airport security has become absolutely insane and stupid, someone like Maria Sharapova does NOT want to wait in long lines, be gawked at, harassed for autographs, felt up by security people, have her luggage gone through, have security people pawing her underwear, etc.

She would have to be a complete idiot to want that. So, she charters a jet, cuts through all that crap, doesn't have to be hassled, can sit comfortably in a nice pleasant seat, drink champagne, hang with her mom and friends, play music, lie down completely and sleep, dance, sing, workout, whatever.

No one, at least not famous people, who make the sort of cash that Masha hauls in, is going to fly commerical, first class or no. It's just a nightmare, and who wants to be constantly hassled?

I don't think money is the only issue different people will see it as a waste of money and some might like to keep in touch with the everyday people. Maybe if rich people did share a plane with the rest of us we wouldn't be talking about running our of petrol in years to come.
