Since 2000:

#1 Players:

Wilson - Davenport, Venus, Serena, JHH
Head-
Prince- Capriati, Sharapova
Babolat- Clijsters
Yonex- Hingis
Dunlop- Mauresmo

GS Winners:
Wilson - Davenport, Venus, Serena, JHH
Head- Myskina, Kuznetsova
Prince- Capriati, Sharapova
Babolat- Clijsters
Yonex- Pierce
Dunlop -Mauresmo

does the racquet make a difference, or is it the players? Wilson is obviously the most successful racquet company? Is it their technology or the players?

i'm not sure that's the right way to look at it.
i'll have a thinky ang get back to you about it - but i'm thinking something about tierIII-IV title winners, as thier power isn't enough to bounce off regardless of any company.

Yes, the reason Peng beat Clijsters was because she was using Wilson

Yonex (Seles) > Wilson (S.Williams)

8 > 7 (We don't count Monica's 1990 RG title because she won it playing with a Prince stick)

does the racquet make a difference, or is it the players?

I reckon it comes down to 99% racquet technology and 1% player skill. What do you think? :weirdo:

What is your definition of an "elite" player? Mine does not include players ranked #53 and #97.

#1 Amelie Mauresmo--Dunlop M-Fil 300
#2 Justine Henin-Hardenne--Wilson nCode nTour Two
#3 Maria Sharapova--Prince O3 White
#4 Svetlana Kuznetsova--Head Flexpoint Instinct
#5 Nadia Petrova--Babolat Pure Storm MP
#6 Kim Clijsters--Babolat Pure Drive
#7 Elena Dementieva--Yonex RDS 001
#8 Martina Hingis--Yonex NanoSpeed RQ 7
#9 Patty Schnyder--Head Flexpoint Prestige
#10 Dinara Safina--Babolat Pure Storm MP

By my definition of an "elite" player, Babolat is the most successful racquet manufacturer.

I think Seles, Hingis, Navratilova all used Yonex...

how do those players stink?

I don't see the point of this thread unless its trying to directly link GS victories to a racquet brand. Half those racquet companies don't even make their own strings :tape:

The thread did say "since 2000" and unfortunately players who are sponsored by Yonex haven't done much since then :help:

Hopefully the new generation (Vaidisova, Kirilenko) can help turn things around.
