Despite a final, and despite La Sharapova playing, there were loads of empty seats in the Zurich stadium. Was there a concert or play on in Zurich? If not, womens tennis is in trouble!

To me, the seats are simply too expensive, it is almost ridiculous... Now i am not sure wether this is typical of Zurich or if every Wta event is so expensive.

People fail to realize that Maria does not put asses in these stadiums in Europe or the USA. The proof is out there whenever she plays a tournament. She just can't do it like Venus and Serena Williams. Now put Hingis and the sisters along with Davenport and Jen, Jen on a tennis court and you will have a pack house.

I'm not surprised, Federer only filled 2/3 of the seats in the stadium during Davis Cup.

If the tickets are really that expensive then it's a shame, I was watching the Madrid Masters final today and it was PACKED.

According to the Swiss people who post on hingis.org Martina played to big crowds in her three matches so she received great fan support. I can't speak for the rest of the players!:help:
