Sveta has had only one first-match defeat in 2006, recently in Moscow.

But what's even more remarkable is that in all other tournaments she has won two matches minimum.
In fact her Wimbledon results (3rd round - 62 points) is not even among her 17 best results.

That's very impressive. :)

She failed to reach QF at 3 of 4 Grand Slams this year.
Not impressive, really...

Not impressive, really...

Moreover, she only had 7 wins over top 10 players so far and has lost an astounding 18 times this year. That's a lot for a top-ranked player.

Still, 2006 probably has been her best year on tour since she has one the U.S. Open.

She has played 20 tournaments in 2006. She has won two titles. You do the math. :weirdo:

Actually, she has played 21 trns (including Zurich) winning 3 of them.

What does math have to do with it? 18 losses is way too many for a top-ranked player. She should have had more tournament wins this year.

Pay attention. And if you want to look at amazingly consistent years, check out Maria's or Justine's. Now that is amazing consistency.

She was not so consistent, Miami hurts her consistency,
playing like in Miami she could win everything.
But she never plays like that.

You need to pay attention, moron. Oh, and maybe look up the definition of consistency:
"In sport, consistency refers to a competitor's (or team's) ability to perform to a high standard on a regular basis."

Sveta has reached 13 semifinals out of 21 tournaments. Reaching semifinals on a regular basis is a pretty high standard to me.
Except the early loss against Vera Z., Sveta hasn't lost against an unseeded player once. That's pretty consistent IMO.

If this thread was about tournament wins, the title would read something like "Sveta's huge number of tournament wins in 2006".
It doesn't.

So unless you start talking about the topic at hand, shut the fuck up, Jackoff. :)

The last time I checked I didn't call you names so f($k off ass wipe. And come jack me off since you seem to be in the mood.

To get back on topic hey it's great she has been to 13 semis. But only three tournament wins in 21 events? Like I said, look at Justine's record, that is far more impressive.

It might be. But again, this is OFF-TOPIC.

Justine has only played 12 tournaments, Sveta has played 21.
Justine has had some excellent tournament wins, while Sveta HAS BEEN CONSISTENT WEEK IN WEEK OUT, ALL YEAR LONG.

We've had this kind of discussion before so I know that you will never get it. I will stop trying now. :)

Well, lets hope that Svetlana doesn't injure herself from overplaying next year.

I think she's done pretty well this year, considering her miserable form towards the end of 2005. She's come from outside the top 10, to the top 5. I think thats pretty good. She still needs to improve her shot selection, and footwork. She's got the game to become no. 1. I don't think she'll ever have the consistency to really dominate, but I definitely think she can hold onto the top spot for a while.

I don't think Sveta is consistent. Her results indoors are below her other results.
She has true top 5 ability, but needs more consistency
