Superb serving and tactics from Daniela today. :) Sveta seemed a shadow of yesterday but even if she was not so tired she would have had a major struggle on her hands.

Only minor wobbles from Daniela, no real chokes which makes a change. And she said after the match how much fun she's having on court which is great to hear. Sounds like she's trying to put less pressure on herself than in previous years.

Hantuchova played a great aggressive match, too bad Kuznetsova couldn't rise to the challenge, she played a bad match.

Hantuchova is playing well, but I'm not convinced that only her good form got her this win. I will believe it though, when she beats Sharapova tomorrow.

Not good at all. Tired, deflated, slow, defensive, tentative, rarely really went for her shots, low 1st serve %.

Everyone said she had played great vs Hingis (I didn't watch that match), so this was very surprising to me.

I suspect Kuznetsova's attitude towards this match went something along the lines of "If Hantuchova hands the match to me I'll take it, if I have to fight for it I won't bother". Like Lena D., she's played more than enough tennis post-USO and is already thinking about the YEC.

Still, full credit to Danka. She's really a delight to watch when she's on. Big serve (always well placed, be it first or second), deep, accurate groundstrokes, opening great angles with crosscourt shots, almost flawless at the net. She completely overpowered Kuznetsova for most of the match - no mean feat. And when did Danka become such a good defender? She used her big wingspan admirably - why take a few more steps when you can just stretch?

A much deserved win for her and for her long-suffering but always devoted fanbase.
