what about "Wasnt a fan to begin with" ?

I never was a Sharapova fan but this incident certainly doesnt make me think very highly of her LOL. Doesnt change the fact that I really enjoy watching her perform tho, cause shes quite entertaining.

this is a pretty redundant question because even if what she did was wrong (imo), no true fan will stop being a fan. you either defend her or accept she made a mistake and move on. it takes more than such incidents to make or break a true fan of any players

Hel yes my love/fanship is still as great as ever, this whole incident has been blown out of proportion and hardly the news its been made out to be, she made a mistake big deal. Its not as if Serena, Justine, Venus Martina etc. have never done anything bad.

Well, I've only seen two participants from here that seem so "morally" outraged that they've created threads about it. RenaSlam, still reeling from Serena's continued fall in the rankings that she's reduced to calling the top players like Justine and Maria, "bitch." (all the while, conveniently leaves out IW and a plethora of questionable tournament withdrawl of his fav).

And then there's Bis, whose continued attacks on Maria likely stem from Dinosaur Fatties fall in the rankings and his personal absence of a vagina.

I don't know of too many participants in this forum that would last as long as Bis and RenaSlam, if they called Venus and Serena "Bitch" "Whore" "Herpes Hardenne", etc. etc.

But then afterall, this is Larry Scott's WTA World.

Oh goodness, one point in a match isn't going to decide an entire match. Everyone knew Peer was going to lose. The outcome was predictable.

And any professional tennis player weak-minded enough to allow one point in a match decide their fate, is a mental midget and deserves to lose.

Of course I am.

If she did something that was actually bad, I might start questioning.

But what about the swing voters???????????

i dont know... i recently became a fan... but not a big one or anything, just a tiny one....

i still like her but she really should be ashamed of herself. too many shady incidents recently. if she does things that are more blatantly nasties, then i will start to shift my viewpoint of her a bit more negatively

I have always liked her since 2004. Never been a huge fan, but I always watch as many matches of hers as I can. She could have made a better decision in this match, but people are blowing it out of proportion. And plus, it's hard disliking a player when you enjoy watching her. :)

Watching her in Acura and LA was very fun. In general, watching the players live makes me like them more. :)

Answered you're question right there. There is a difference between a true fan and the not "that big of a fan" as you say.

Then again, it's not as if these kinds of fans are a loss to Maria. She has made mistakes, okay. But so do most players. Theirs just don't get magnified 100x as they don't have haters who are on the lookout to prey on their every single mistake.

In any case, if you're a true fan, the controversial things Maria has been involved in (blown out of proportion or not, mistake to Maria or not) do not merit a turnaround in your support for her imo. That's just true fans I'm talking about though so... ;)

If you were a Maria fan before this incident and weren't after, then im glad because if something like that takes you away from a favourite player then there is something wrong and Maria deserves better fans then that and so does every player. As for me no matter what she does, ill always be a Maria fan till the very end.

You made such a good post, it's not even funny! Seriously though, it takes a lot more than one shady incidence to make me not be a Sharapova fan, just as it takes a lot more than one great performance to make someone a Sharapova fan. I mean, the bottom line is that we all like who we like, and it's hard to change that. Thus, I will be her fan regardless of this situation.

People need to start being careful.

There are some people who voted in this "Are you STILL a FAN of Maria" poll for the 'NO I will never like her again' option...who have obviously NOT BEEN Maria fans at all to begin with...RenaSlam588, are you kidding me?!! pierce97546666??!!....:rolls:

If she keeps on doing it she will just ridicule herself. But I'd rather watch Maria anyday over Butch Bertha who's just looked like an Eastern European shot putter in her match against Martina today.
