Hi Everyone!

The Musée Grévin in Paris has many wax statues of French and international celebrities. While visiting the Musée last week I was disappointed to see that among the tennis players represented there, there was no wax statue of Mary Pierce, whereas Amélie Mauresmo - also one of the greatest French tennis player - has got her own.

As you know Mary is the last French player who's won the French Open and the last one who's played the Final there - and she's got no statue! That is why I have made a blog to promote the creation of a wax Statue representing Mary Pierce at the Musée Grévin. There is also a petition.

here's the link to my blog (in French, I'm really sorry! But it's a funny one, especially the pics of Amélie's Statue) :

http://marypierceaumuseegrevin.over-blog.com

and to the petition:

here's the translation of the form you need to fill in:

Nom = Name
Nationalité = Nationality
Profession = Employment
Commentaires= Comments (you can leave your comment in English!)

Please come and help Mary get her statue! Advertise this petition!

If you subscribe, you will get a mail with a link and you need to click on it to confirm your signature!

Thank You So Much!

I'll do it, hon, but you have to admit that Mary's about as French as French Fries.

:rolleyes: Exactly.

At least his heart is in the right place although he blacked out his own photo on the website. Who wouldn't want their picture up on the internet?

Actually, looking at what they did to Amelie in the figure, I think Mary is lucky they left her off the list. Amelie's wax figure looks cross-eyed and her nose is all messed up. The real/live Amelie is not cross-eyed and her nose is not messed up.

Helen - I could not agree more. Wax dummies always lose something in the translation sometimes they are terrifying.

It looks like someone socked Amelie right straight in the nose and broke it!

The one of Amelie is quite bad - Mary is better off out of it.

Though to be fair, Amelie's isn't as shocking as the Belgian Wax Museum - I don't know how to search for old threads...you should dig up the pics of wax Kim & Justine...!

So I take it the wax Armourlee is an improvement?

It doesn't really look like her, but it's not offensive.

You're so right, she doesn't even speak french properly..... (terrible accent ever)

I rather prefer a statue of Tati in bikini :hearts: ..... who wants to sign my petition?

Come on

Mary is french, she has a french mother, and even tati who speaks better french has no french parents (but still is french in another sense) !!!
Mary speaks very well for someone who learnt the langage when she was a teenie
and if she did not speak as a child it was just because her father forbidd his wife and children to speak a language he did not understand.

so if she does not speak like every french native she though speaks well, now almost without an accent (or without an american accent if you prefer...) and she is definitely french!!!

so come on, she needs your help!

Mary's only French when it's convenient for the public for her to be.

for some french people (the stupid ones!) maybe...but french people are like that, when amélie was not playing well one year ago they was not nice to her, and it used to be so with mary. But she is now more popular than 6-7 years ago? That's great. Her french ist well and she now lives in Paris.

so come on, she needs you:
