She is now constantly tired. Ok, this is her 3rd tournament in a row, but in this 3 weeks she played 3 matches in Stuttgart, but all of them fairly quick, even 3 setter, one very quick match in Moscow and, more than a week later this match in Zurich. According to reports on this board, she was exhausted in the second set.

I'm really worrying. What is going on with her? Obsviously, it's not from playing. Is she overtraining? (she is know for having an exceptional work ethic).

it could be from over-training.
or it could be the effort of playing on courts that allow one's opponent to retrieve many balls even though they are supposed to be 'fast'.
or maybe she's not in it to win it.

Nah - Sveta's in great shape, remember she comes from a top Russian cycling family. She is a good actress though, certainly fooled Janka today in the second set with the onslaught to close out the match. Both girls were sweating buckets in that arena today.

Could be tired mentally, maybe. It's been a long year.
I suspect the last few tournaments are very difficult to get
through.

She's scared. Her room in Zurich has a mirror

It could be both physically and mentally tired from too much playing. She should play less tournaments the next year. But If I was her, I couldnt resist the three last tournaments. Stuttgart is very tempting by the porche, Moscow is her hometown and Zurich is the tier I tournament, lots of points to gain.

That reminds me of Sampras. What did Courier say once? Sampras is a good actor. Sampras would appear tired then explode into action and stun his opponent.

That sounds a good ploy to me.

Seriously though, after this tournament and Madrid, Sveta will get lots of rest.

it's the last final push - evryone is tired, she's just having (another) late season surge, so while she wants it mentally, the body can be betraying...

Sveta wants to do well in Madrid. Her performance there will tell the story
Sveta was never ultra consistent from tournament to tournament
