After a match like that Hingis in straight sets. Kuznetsova might pull off an all guns blazing 6-0 set though.

This is tough. Hingis has definately competed well against Svetlana this year, so I expect that to continue. They haven't played indoors yet, have they? I think it depends on the first set, so I'm hoping for a 7-5 6-4 win for Martina.

Martina's done great against Sveta. If she'd won that match point in Miami, the head-to-head would be 3-0.

That being said, I am always so nervous when Martina plays Sveta because I know it's always going to be a tough match. If Sveta is on, she is deadly.

Please win, Martina!

The prospect of thrashing Hingis will put a cheerful spring in the rejuvenated Russian's step and the sledgehammer forehand.

It's all up to Sveta. Hingis has nothing that bothers Sveta. She should have beaten her in the Rogers Cup and since that match, the two have gone completely opposite directions. But this is the indoor season where motivations of the players are questionable and Hingis needs this win more than Sveta.

Disagree. I think Sveta struggles more when she is not given pace by her opponents. When she has to generate it herself she makes more errors.

I think Martina matches well against Svetlana - all things being equal I would normally give this to Hingis in straight sets.

However, Svetlana is in better form than Hingis right now so she will probably take a set off the former world #1.

Hingis 6-3, 5-7, 6-1

i'd say hingis in straight sets which will most likely be sveta making lots of unforced errors as she is always the one being the agressor & martina playin some extraordinary shots as she is playin in her home country. so that's how i see it.

You're full of shit. All up to Sveta? That's, again, bull shit. Hingis is able to track down most of what Kuznetsova throws at her, and has enough variety to keep Kuznetsova off balance. Svetlana certainly can power through Hingis' groundstrokes, but that doesn't mean its "all up to her". I think that Hingis has no pressure in this match (from my perspective, and her's if you read her blog). She's not really favored to win, and she'll have massive crowd support.

Kuznetsova should win this with little trouble. But Hingis has done well against her this year. Still I have to go with Kuznetsova in two sets.

Kuznetsova already knows what it will take to beat 2000 Zürich Open champion, Hingis. The two played each other three times this year and Hingis won twice, including the most recent encounter in Montréal.

"Tomorrow's not easy," Kuznetsova said. "Martina is playing at home in front of a Swiss crowd. I know what I have to do. Keep my unforced errors down as she doesn't give you anything and uses the power very well against you. But I'm motivated for this match and am really looking forward to it."

Hingis matches up very good vs Sveta. She doesn't allow her to use her big serve for a whole lot of cheap points (did that amazingly well at Montreal!) and really attacks the crap out of Sveta's inferior backhand. She known not to go to that forehand, but isn't afraid to hi to it either. Hingis needs a very high first serve % (must be above 70% at least) and really needs to bust out all her variety because thats how she'll beat Kuznetsova. Hingis hasn't been playing her greatest tennis of late, and Sveta is playing pretty damn good but this is Martina's hometown tournament so you know she'll be up for it. Hingis in 2 or 3 (she needs to be careful of her second set lapses).

Wow! Martina is really leading this poll, which makes me nervous!

I think Hingis in 2 tight sets...Even though she has played FAR from her best so far in Zurich she has still managed fairly comfortable wins over good players, and I think her form will be a bit better tomorrow.
It's bit funny that to make it to the final she has to get through Sveta and Dani, same as in MontreaL!
She has what it takes to beat Sveta, I disagree with the idea that it is 'all up to Kuzy'...It's more about which Marti shows up IMHO.

A win would also confirm Martina's spot in the YEC... although we all know she'll qualify anyway...
