i think it depends who she gets in her side of the draw if she gets Momo, Kuzy & Hingis she could get through all depends on who she gets

Yeah i can see why she could go shit again at the YEC. she's lost her last 6 matches at the YEC between 2004-2005 with her best result being a semifinal appearance in 2000 which was around nearly 7 years ago & since then she hasn't reached that round since.

it all depends on who she draws & how she's feeling on the day that will determine whether she will win matches at the YEC or not. she probably want 2 have some1 like schnyder in her round robin group in order 2 gain a 1st win. hope it happens 4 her, but not against kim though.

she'll either be BLAH or get to the SF. ill be so shocked if she gets to the finals considering her past results. i hope she does though...

i think its partially mental. if she feels there's some chance for her in the section, then she'll try... but i dont know lol

If Elena is going to win one of the 5 biggest tournaments, it will be this one. The round robin format means she can have an absolute shocker in one of her matches and still make the semis. Will it be this year? I doubt it, but fingers crossed.

amelie and sveta? amelie holds a 8-4 H2H and sveta won their last meeting

elena will be the underdog in every match she plays in the YEC, though with hingis it'll prob be 50-50.

elena can beat amelie.
sveta sucks indoors --- elena crushed her when they played indoors
hingis is hingis --- elena crushed hingis indoors, in a final nonetheless.

Lena's results are very solid- until today she was in the 1/4 final and more in her last 10 tournaments. The problem is not her results but her level of play- it is not consistant and she have many ups and downs within the matches. this is her real problem...

Maybe a change of venue will do her good.

maybe ,but at least shes there right?

Anyways ,who knows how she will play ,but this time she should be fresher and the venue will be so much better than that dreadful shithole they were in the last few years ,hopefully the matches will start at sensible times not at 11pm like last year and the Spanish love their tennis so a better atmoshpere should be present.

Lena may well suprise a few ,we will have to see ,but either way 7 str8 YECs is pretty good... she still rocks!!

Elena always underperforms at the YEC, I'm not expecting her to do well this year either :o

She has no confidence and she's been playing really poorly since the first few matches at the US Open. While she beat Rezai it was an absolutely shocking display and her game hasn't recovered since.

As for the serve I don't think she even believes in it anymore. At the start of the year she was serving aggressively on first and second. Today she managed to serve timidly on first and second. Is she slicing it? Is she hitting it hard? Or is she just trying to get it to land inside the service box? Right now her first serve lacks any penetration and that's simply not good enough when facing top 8 players.

elena seems to underperform against the top 10 players except for a few wins here and there. i think she has a chance of making the semis IF she has kuznetsova or hingis, or even an underperforming amelie, jhh or kim
