Ana, there was Martina and Kim. Without Kim's accident, she would have won it I believe. Anna was next. There were a LOT of hot top players there. But INJURIES, injuries, injuries

Anna in Moscow, even at the semis stage I would have bet my life she could never win the tournament

Bondarenko's win completely surprised me, but i'd also have to pick Mauresmo at the Oz open. I beleived that she would never win a gs, and she proved me wrong.

OTOH, i was most happy with Ana's win in Montreal

I reckon Bondarenko's was the most surprising. paszek's comes in as a close second.

I would think that Marion Bartoli winning Auckland was a huge shock. She lost in ITF's at the end of last year and was not in good shape. Throw in a very strong draw.

Sofia's title was really surprising to me, given how horrid her form was before and after :o

No, she was pretty in-form since the end of 2005 but the clay tournaments did her no good at all.

I chose Alona because she wasn't in good form at all, and for one week she played really well. Now she's back to a low level...

Anna C. winning in Moscow wasn't surprising at all. Not for a true tennis expert like myself :)

I vote Bondarenko.

Anna's win in Moscow is wonderful but not entirely surprising. I have been predicting her entrance to top 10 for some time.
