Good luck to Miki in 2007. Hopefully top 300/400 by the end of the year.

Miki is in the final of the 10k Sutama, where she plays Maki Arai. I have been researching her and found some infos.

Some really nice quotes there, such as:
"“Even though you practice every day with all your heart, you don't always get the results you want, but you can't just stop practicing because of that. That won't help at all. I guess that is the profound fascination of tennis,” :worship:

Miyamura d. Arai 6-3 6-3

Congrats Miki. She's made good progress since turning pro in April. Interestingly, she only started playing at the age of 13, like Shinobu Asagoe.

Yes I think that she is the only japanese player with singles ranking that hit one handed backhand,it is not pretty common in asian country in general.

Time for a bump - after 3 years!

Miki has qualified for the 50k in Nottingham and has reached the quarter finals, beating much higher ranked opposition along the way, Top 200 ranked Glushko and Coin. These are the two best wins of her career. :worship:

I attended Nottingham yesterday and watched her put on a great display of grasscourt tennis against Coin.

Stephanie Dubois awaits in the next round, so I suspect the journey will end now but good luck, Miki.

Wow what a week for Miki!!

Jun 14th, 2013, 09:56 AM
Miki will break her CHR ranking and will be inside the top 400!

yeah, what a great week for Miki and great effort to qualify and beat two top 2oo players!:).Im so pleased for Miki, best of luck against Dubois will be tough but who know's.Miki is up to #372 now best ranking in her career.:)

Jun 14th, 2013, 05:38 PM
def. Stephanie Dubois 6-4 6-4

The last time they played, Dubois only lost 4 games.

Surely deserving of a QWC next week.

Jun 14th, 2013, 11:45 PM
Wow Miki!! won doubles easily too

Jun 15th, 2013, 07:04 AM
wow Miki!:bounce::bounce:great win,I really hope she can make the final now, would be nice if she gets a QWC for Wimby, but i don't know, maybe if she wins this event...deserving after this effort:)

Jun 15th, 2013, 12:17 PM
Miki's having a tough one out there, down 0-6 0-1 to Majeric.

She has played 9 matches in 7 days though, so must be exhausted. Hope she can put up a fight.

Jun 15th, 2013, 12:20 PM
no stream?

Jun 15th, 2013, 12:21 PM
nvm, i found one. don't know if my internet will let me watch though.

Jun 15th, 2013, 12:26 PM
Miki holds for 2-1, played some nice shots there. Majeric keeps trying to attack her bh.

Jun 15th, 2013, 12:26 PM
Miki's slice is really forcing Majeric to get LOW.

Jun 15th, 2013, 12:29 PM
I think Miki's game really annoys Majeric (well from what i've seen), Majeric has to get low for Miki's slices and occasional drop shots and since Majeric isn't really a power player she can't really out hit Miki too and the only option is to go to her slice.

Jun 15th, 2013, 12:53 PM
no stream?

Hey :)

Where'd you find the stream?

Jun 15th, 2013, 01:01 PM
Hey :)

Where'd you find the stream?
Does this work?

Jun 15th, 2013, 01:02 PM
Miki's blown a break and is back to 4-4.

She has a pretty good serve for a Japanese as well, 6 aces against Dubois yesterday and a couple so far this match.

Jun 15th, 2013, 01:05 PM
4-5 and Majeric is serving for the match. Courage, Miki!

Edit: Play suspended. Let's hope she can use this rain delay to her advantage.

Jun 15th, 2013, 01:52 PM
Good time for a rain delay? goo Miki!!

Brilliant week for Miki, nonetheless. A new Grass court GOAT has emerged and I am sure all the matches played this week caught up with her this match.

I really have my fingers crossed for a deserved Wimbledon QWC, although I have my doubts.

Jun 15th, 2013, 09:12 PM
My photos from vs Coin. Unfortunately not the greatest as she was on a back court of the complex with high fencing.

The note was matched by only a handful of people; myself, Coin's coach, Feuerstein, Foretz-Gacon, Pavlovic and Florent Serra. In contrast to them, I was cheering for Miki and she even thanked for me for my support at the end. :hearts:

Jun 16th, 2013, 06:07 AM
Doubles they lost 61 46 11-9

Please please QWC

Jun 16th, 2013, 09:34 PM
No QWC

A very unjust decision. Miki has written on her blog earlier today, she arrived in London yesterday and is exhausted from all the matches she has had to play this past week. The week has given her lots of confidence for the future, she is hoping to get into the Q Doubles at Roehampton with Wongteanchai. She also thinks it is a shame that the Grass season is so short. Me too!

thanks for the pictures of Miki Sugi!:),She had a great week, but must have taken alot out of her, let's hope she has gained alot of belief in her game for the rest of the year.:),good luck for dubs qualies for Wimby Miki:),unlucky no QWC for Miki, had she have won the event maybe, but i think Miki may have won some matches there, morelikely than Dart,or Dunne who received WC's.....

Jun 17th, 2013, 12:31 PM
I thought that as well. It was mentioned about signing in? Maybe some of the players won't be able to attend sign in as they'll be at Eastbourne/Rosmalen? Let's see how it works. :scared:

Jun 19th, 2013, 10:36 PM
They weren't in the draw. I can't quite understand Miki's blog, but Varatchaya had a problem signing in at doubles and Miki looked around for another partner but found no one willing.

She enjoyed watching lots of matches around the venue and found it interesting how lots of the strong players played on Grass as if on Clay. She seems quite positive and that she is learning lots from being around players of a higher calibre.

Update time
Since Nottingham, Miki lost in the first round of Beijing to Yurika Sema but won the doubles with Misaki Doi.

She is now playing the 25k in Granby
R1 - Miki Miyamura (JPN) d. (8)Mai Minokoshi (JPN) 67(8) 76(3) 63
R2 - Miki Miyamura (JPN) d. Akiko Omae (JPN) 61 36 62
QF - Miki Miyamura (JPN) v (2) Julie Coin (FRA)

Miki beat Coin in the first round at Nottingham and Coin will certainly be looking for revenge. It is nice to see that Miki is still keeping in good form.

Jul 19th, 2013, 10:46 PM
Coin def. Miyamura 6-4 6-0

Still, a nice week for Miki nonetheless.

Miki has moved on to Stanford now!

R1 - Natalie Grandin v Miki Miyamura

Jul 20th, 2013, 12:47 PM
Grandin will be interesting. You don't expect much of her as shes a double specialist but did reach QFR last week by defeating some scrubs.
Still I'd say Miki in 3.

Jul 21st, 2013, 01:29 AM
Natalie Grandin beats Miki Miyamura 7-5 6-4
