Well done to Nadia Petrova who is into the Moscow Semis after defeating fellow Russian Vera Zvonareva 7-5 6-1. Nadia broke Zvonareva in every service game in the Second Set. Nadia has not lost a set so far in Moscow. In the Semi Finals, Nadia will face either Top Seed and World No.1 Amelie Mauresmo or 8th Seed Nicole Vaidisova.
Also, Nadia teamed up with Svetlana Kuznetsova to defeat Top Seeds and World No.1 Doubles Team Lisa Raymond and Samantha Stosur 6-2 6-1 yesterday! Great news. Nadia and Kuzzy will be playing their Second Round doubles match later today against Vera Dushevina and Maria Kirilenko with all four women being Russian!!
Good Luck Nadia and Congrats :)

Is Nadia injured? She and Kuznetsova retired in the doubles while trailing 6-3 3-1 against Vera Dushevina and Maria Kirilenko. I hope she isn't injured!
Anyway the draw has opened up for Nadia after Sharapova withdrew with a right foot injury. Also, Mauresmo is struggling against Vaidisova as she is down 4-2 in the Deciding Set. I hope Mauresmo loses!
Go Nadia :)

Yes! Vaidisova def Mauresmo 1-6 7-5 7-6(3). Mauresmo had a Match Point at 6-5 on Vaidisova's serve, but as always, she choked.
That opens up the draw for Nadia! She can beat Vaidisova, Chakvedadze and Dementieva/Schnyder at her best!
Go Nadia :)

Oh no. I hope this pectoral strain injury is just a precaution. I don't my Nadia to be out for the rest of the season.

Hope she's not injured too bad. I think she will be okay. If she gets through this week she is not playing at Zurich which will give her a week to rest. Good luck against Vaidisova, Nadia!

In her new blog entry, Nadia says that the injury is nothing serious and that it will not get in the way of her semifinal match. She really is enjoying the home crowd, and that's why I think she will reach the finals. Good luck to her tomorrow in the semis, hopefully she can completely demolish Vaidisova.
