Luckily I have that :D I've never watched before in my life, though

Definitely a downgrade. Its kinda embarassing that such a big tournament is on small channel. I bet they'll devote a lot of time to it, though, so I guess it'll good for people who get the channel.

VERSUS To Air Sony Ericsson Championships

STAMFORD, CT, USA VERSUS, a network that celebrates competition in all forms, announced Tuesday, October 10, that the network will air the upcoming Sony Ericsson Championships between November 7 and November 12. VERSUS will televise over 29 hours of the event, including all singles matches, from first ball to championship point. The Championships bring together the world's best female tennis players, with the top eight singles players and top four doubles teams from the regular season competing for the season-ending titles and a share of the $3 million purse. This year's event will likely see the World No.1 singles ranking on the line.

"We are very excited to bring the Sony Ericsson Championships to our viewers," said Marc Fein, Senior Vice President of Programming and Production for VERSUS. "Showcasing these great athletes on our network fits in perfectly with our brand of telecasting pure competition at its finest. The Championships are a great addition to the expanding roster of sports on VERSUS."

"We are thrilled to partner with a premier US broadcaster in VERSUS to bring the very best of women's professional tennis to American fans," said Sony Ericsson WTA Tour CEO Larry Scott. "The Sony Ericsson Championships features the world's best players in action, and we are excited to join the VERSUS lineup of premium global sporting events."

Full Schedule (subject to change):

Round Robin First Match - 12pm ET LIVE
Round Robin Second Match - 2pm ET LIVE

Sounds pretty good, except for the same day delay deal, but its not that bad.

It's not on my cable line-up either. I want to record in on my DVR. I just emailed Versus about it.

I checked on my TV guide and it's not listed, just ATP Tennis Master's Cup on ESPN2. Weird. Should I do the same? Or if you get a reply, could you either PM me or post it please? :)

I haven't heard back from Versus. I am just going to record all those shows that are on the schedule when the tennis is supposed to be on and see what happens.

I got ComCast too:) I don't care if it's Versus (originally OLN) channel or whatever. I'm just glad that it's being televised here by someone in the US!:clap2: ;) :yeah: It will be a first for me to watch anything on Versus:p Never really found a reason to watch anything on that channel until now!:D Definitely will record the matches it when it comes on:)

While ESPN2 has a much bigger audience, VS is going to show every singles match played during the YEC. There is no way in hell ESPN would ever do that. In my opinion, it's definitely a fantastic upgrade.

I agree. ESPN would probably for the most part only showcase Masha's matches, not that there's anything wrong with that, but there are other players competing in this tourney also.;) It's not just all about Masha. It would be cool if Versus does show every singles match scheduled for each day though.:yeah: Will see how they do in televising this tourney.:)

Its an upgrade for the individual viewer, but a downgrade for the sport, in my opinion.

I'm doing that for the first day, and see what I get when I come home to watch. If it doesn't work, then i'll appreciate the match uploader's excellent work. :)

Oh thank heaven for versus :worship: I had searched yahoo sports for ESPN 2 coverage and there was none, so I was a bit worried. I guess since it's not in usa anymore, espn wants nothing to do with it? With 29 hours of coverage...who cares. That's more than ESPN would show that's for sure.

Well, here is what the Versus (OLN) website is saying for times.

http://www.versus.tv/nw/article/view/22170/?UserDef=true&catID=76

I think it is all Eastern Time. Neither my Cox cable or Replay Tv guide show this, so I guess they are lagging in reporting the change to their schedule. I'm hoping that the tennis will magically appear in about 9 minutes.
