Kuznetsova has arrived in Beijing yesterday

here is the interview

Sep 19th media note with Kuznetsova

Q: When you were in Wimbledon this year, you were lost to Li Na. In China Open, you two may meet again. Can you give us some comments on her?
A: I havenít looked at the draw, so I donít know who I may meet. I got a good memory of everything here. I think the tournament is planned really well. Li is one of best players. I played with her in French Open as well.

Q: You just finished your game in Bali, so do you feel physically tired? Do you think you can play your best in China Open?
A: Yes, Iím a little bit of tired. I came here yesterday, and I didnít practice, so I had a day off. Iíll start my practice after the press conference. I hope I can play well tomorrow.

Anybody know why Sveta is not playing doubles here? Is she tired from Bali? Or something more serious? Or just doesn't fancy it? Amelie is partnering Severine Bremond :awww:

Thanks for all the pics and info Veeko! :yeah:

Sigh of relief, most of the posters in here fancied Na Li. Good Sveta won in Na Li's homecountry. Was right about Sveta to win in 3 sets. Guess my prediction had to do with logical thinking compared to the Na Li minded fans.

Sep 22nd media note with Kuznetsova

Comment: Li is a good player. She has the ability to be at a higher ranking. She is a very nice person and a friend of mine. The crowd really enjoys the game. I served well in the game.

Q: Your winning points are less than Li Na, but still you won the game. What do you think is the problem?

A: My job is to reduce the errors as few as possible. Li is a powerful player. If she serves well, I could only return the ball.

Q: I saw you and your coach didnít use racquet when practicing, but only doing some toss and catching. Was that some kind of new way of training?

A: It was just for the warm-up and trying to get action to the game.

Q: Li said in her press conference that it was easier for her to win over you on grass. Whatís your opinion about that?

A: I donít know. I think if I play well, I can win her on grass as well. She is a good player. I didnít serve well in Wimbledon. And there was something wrong with my stomach in French Open. I donít think she has more advantage over me on grass, but itís easier for her to play; thatís true.

Q: You once said that she could be top 5 player. What do you think now?

A: She can be top 15 definitely. But sometimes itís a matter of mind, not only a matter of game to be a top player. I think she has more chances than other Chinese girls.

Q: Maria Sharapova is the first Russian player who wins two Grand Slams. Do you think you can do that?

A: Iím not competing with her. I think I can get my second Grand Slam.

Media Note with Kuznetsova, Sep 23

Comment: I played smart today. Peng didnít play well, I think she is a little bit tired, but I am physically good. In the 1st set, I tried to make her move, and made some drop shots.

1、 Q: You won the match against Li Na and Peng Shuai separately. Would you please make some comment on them?

A: Peng is young, and she needs more years to improve herself. Li Na is in excellent form now, and she is very strong in the match. I think Peng is a little bit tired recently. But both of them are good players and can perform well.

2、 Q: You probably play against Mauresmo in the final, how do you think about that match?

A: It will be tough, but itís good to play against top players. She plays with variety of tennis. It is interesting to play against her. I have to play hand by hand, I will see who will be the winner this evening.

3、 Q: You have took part in 18 events this year, and you reached quarterfinals at least in 15 events. So how can you be in good form consistently?

A: Last year, I have problem on consistency. Sometimes I play well, sometimes I donít. I just play my best and focus on the match. I am No. 5 now, I would like to improve my ranking to No.4 or higher by the end of this year. I would like to accumulate experience from the match and practice, and become mature. I am in good form now.

Just wondering why she has her ring at the left ring finger? Since in western euorpe this is normally means marriage or partnership like in the case of Amelie. So I'm a bit confuse now. :comfused: Does she has a boyfriend now? Or it is different in Russian culture?

But it's on her right hand.... but then again, she plays golf
left-handed, so maybe her left is her right, really, in her head.
Maybe she just goes both ways. Whatever way she goes, congratulations
on the victory this week! And last weekend as well!

Sep 24th media note with Kuznetsova

Comment: I broke her serve in the first set, so I got the first set. But the match was delayed because of the rain, and after the rain, we both felt a little nervous on court. I knew she would change her tactic after the rain. I had a break, tried to calm down and thought about what I could do later. I played consistently after the rain, and broke her several times. I could see that she had a lot of pressure, and she made some easy mistakes. But I did pretty well.

Q: In the first China Open, Williams finally won the game, and the whole crowd was cheering for her. And this year, it was the same situation. Did you feel differently?

A: It was pretty understandable, cuz she was losing. They were trying to help her. And after the rain, the spectators wanted to see more and probably three sets. I played with many top players, and many of them are a little more popular than me. I also played with Li Na several times, and the whole crowd was cheering for her as well. Iíve used to that, and learned to turn the cheering to my power to win. It doesnít mean that the crowd doesnít like me.

Q: You already defeated Mauresmo 3 times this year, and now you are No.4 in the world. Do you think you have the chance to challenge the world No.1?

A: This is the first time defeating Mauresmo, and I lost 3 times. So Iím very happy to get the gap closer. In the last match against her, I think I found the way to win her. It is my dream to be world No.1. It was a difficult year last year. I think if I keep good work, the No.1 will come one day.

Q: After the rain, when Mauresmo tried to change tactic, you succeeded in keeping her at the base line. Do you think was the main factor that you could win her at 6-0?

A: Iíve lost to her 3 times, and I was finding a way to defeat her. This year, I have a new coach and use some new tactic in my practice. In the game just now, Mauresmo lost many easy balls. I served well in the game, and that was one of the reasons that I won.

Q: How did you prepare for the game during the rain?

Q: I like to listen to music all the time, and I canít imagine playing game without music. I talked with my coach and warmed up. It was important to play well at the start.

Q: The crowd was all disappointed that the game was not that good. What do you think about that?

A: It was a hard question. I canít say I Ďm not happy with the title. Mauresmo was at her best. And that is tennis.

Sep 25th, 2006, 06:48 AM
I'm litte disapointed too... but it's tennis
Do you think that Sveta in a half year or in a year in this shape can be, not only the best of Russian, but also no 1? :bounce:

Sep 25th, 2006, 10:42 AM
I think she is the best one in Russia, but NO.1,i am not sure:lol:
