has she got asian heritage?
i mean she looks so asian and her surname even sounds familiar to Thai language

Allez Steph! :yeah:
Jun 2nd, 2007, 10:37 PM
After her great match in Roland-Garros against Hsieh (she should have won it to tell the truth), Stéphanie is in final of a 10.000$ tournament where she hasn't lost a set yet.
She has a nice potential in my opinion. I was very impressed when I watched her, she can hit beautiful winners. Of course, she makes too many mistakes but with some more experience, she should be able to play smarter.
Get your first title now ! :)

go stéph! I don't know, same as Babet, if she is ready for this, but I would love to see her win a round.
May 20th, 2008, 03:18 PM
Good draw for Stéphanie who got Ruutel in R1. Don't waste this chance, allez!
May 21st, 2008, 11:06 AM
and she will most likely face Mattek (who is 64 52 up on Jidkova right now) so this is a great chance for Stéphanie!
May 21st, 2008, 05:10 PM
Stéphanie lost 75 62 after a great start, leading 52 and saving many SP's.Still a good experience but shame she didn't made it, a win would have mean +100 in the rankings! Better luck next time...
Jul 5th, 2008, 11:03 AM
Stéphanie lost 75 62 after a great start, leading 52 and saving many SP's.Still a good experience but shame she didn't made it, a win would have mean +100 in the rankings! Better luck next time...
Well her performance, even if it was a loss a RG, may have boost her confidence to realize that she was able to play better than her ranking!!
Since a couple of week, Stpeh is performing pretty well on the ITF circuit in France!
1rst at Perigueux $25K, she ousted 8th seed/n°265 Piedade to reach the QF.
This week, she even steps further, qualifying for the SF at Mont de Marsan upstting 4th seed/n°215 Bratchikova and 5th seed/n°222 Soler Espinosa...
She'll have to level up even more her game in SF facing Top seed/n°132 and former n°49 Yakimova.
Whatever the result is...she can be proud of herself and continue this way.She would probably crack the Top 350 after in a couple of weeks!
Jul 7th, 2008, 08:07 AM
The last weeks have been pretty good for Stéphanie, hope she keeps this momentum. It's about time she breaks top 200 I would say. The only bad thing is her mental which is everything but reliable on tense situations. Example : SF in Mont-de-Marsan, Stéphanie led 61 54 against Yakimova and got broken while she was serving for the match and lost in three sets :banghead:.
This week, Stéphanie is 439th and will break top 400 next week :yeah:. She has also a SE in Rome and will play Marinne Giraud. Tough match but allez!
Oct 6th, 2008, 04:34 PM
Stéphanie is back in action after a long break. She is 387th this week and will improve her rank a bit more since she qualified to the main draw of Joué-les-Tours (50.000$) after great wins over Rodier 64 61 & Fondevila-Castro 63 62. :yeah:
She already served 16 aces .
Plays now Hradecka . Hope she will give her best, it's good to see her facing opponents of Lucia's quality anyway.
Oct 7th, 2008, 08:31 PM
Stéphanie lost 63 75 to Lucie, she missed a SP in the second set . She is still playing pretty nervously against those bigger names, she has the potential to be ranked in top 200 but not yet enough nerves. She had again 6 aces and won 67% of pts after a first serve :).
She will try to win a first title playing Lisbon (10.000$) next week, will be top seed there.
Stéphanie won her first title in Lisbon (10.000$) beating Nicola Geuer in final :woohoo:. She has finally done it after so many finals lost!
Congrats!!!!!!!! She has really reached another level this year.... ;)
Now she plays Florence Haring who is a WC like her in the first round of Poitiers (100.000$). Big opportunity for both girls. Allez!
Oct 20th, 2008, 02:08 PM
Wow congrats Steph!!!! :bounce:
Do you know why did she take that long break you talked about 2 posts earlier?
Good luck in Poitiers,Steph
Oct 20th, 2008, 03:47 PM
She played a lot this Summer, she needed some vacation I guess . No injury to report fortunately ;).
Taking this rest was a good decision, she is playing very well again!
Oct 20th, 2008, 05:45 PM
Good to know there was not a physical problem involved :D thanks for the info ;)
Oct 25th, 2008, 05:28 PM
Stephanie Vongsouthi (FRA) d. Nikola Vajdova (SVK) 62 76(4) :D
Oct 26th, 2008, 03:09 PM
And Stéphanie continues her road in Bratislava, she has just defeated the Latvian talent Anastasija Sevastova, 2nd seed in qualies 64 75
A very good win, it's her first match won this year against a top 200 girl :D. I'm really happy for her, I got a bit disappointed when she lost so early in Poitiers to Haring who isn't in her best form. She plays Ana Jovanovic now, qualified as a wall by Juanes who saw her today. It will be tough again but if Stéphanie keeps her consistency and her calm, it will end up well :). Allez Steph!!!!
Oct 26th, 2008, 05:11 PM
wow keep going Steph :D Good luck vs Jovanovic!

Oct 27th, 2008, 06:42 PM
That's really great!!! :D
It's quite some achievement for her to qualify in the MD of such a tournament. She has beaten good players, so it should boost her confidence even more!
Malek will be pretty tough to beat since her last matches have been quite competitive. She is also a former champion here, maybe she will face some pressure then? Nothing to lose Steph & 10 points to get, allez!
Oct 28th, 2008, 09:07 PM
Steph lost today  but good fight
Malek def. Vongsouthi 46 62 63.
Oct 28th, 2008, 09:51 PM
Still a great match played by Steph ;). She led 64 21 but couldn't keep the momentum ... But this tournament shows what she is capable of, that is great things. She is lacking a bit of experience in this kind of tournaments but she has the talent to shine there...
She is clearly on her way to top 200, hope she keeps this level!
She should play Krakow qualies now on next Saturday. ;)
Oct 31st, 2008, 10:12 PM
Krakow qualies draw ;)

Allez Steph! Best of luck!
Oct 31st, 2008, 10:48 PM
A match against Rus would really be exciting to see, keep your great form and it will go fine!!! :yeah:
Nov 1st, 2008, 08:01 AM
I have watched her in ITF Bucharest this year, and I really wasn't impressed. She had no big weapons, and seemed so miserable on court. Plus her coach was giving her advice 24/7.
But I've seen cases when players just can't motivate for the weak tournaments, so hopefully the next time I see her, she will play better. :yeah:
Nov 1st, 2008, 09:22 AM
I remember you wrote that, you couldn't believe that she defeated Andrei on her way to the final.
Well ... I don't know what to think, I don't know her game well enough to be very sure of something. She truely impressed me when she played Hsieh in Roland-Garros, she was by far the better player, she just lacked experience and mental strength. She was clearly hitting some great shots especially on her forehand. Her last results speak also for themselves, competitive matches against many good players (Ruutel, Malek, Hradecka for example) and a couple of nice wins too. I just have the feeling this is only the beginning, I believe in her potential.
I don't know when I'll be able to watch her ... I'm going to Krakow only for SF and F, so she would have to do something really big here! Considering her draw I think this will be impossible . Hope she will be given a WC into Paris' qualies!
Nov 1st, 2008, 09:29 AM
Good luck to you on seeing her.
And totally random: I just noticed Sofia Shapatava in her quarter a few posts up. :tape: I had no she is playing. :haha:
Nov 2nd, 2008, 11:53 AM
Good start :D
Stephanie Vongsouthi -Barbara Krzesinska 6-1 6-1
Nov 2nd, 2008, 08:28 PM
Stéphanie won her second match very easily again. 61 64 against Nociarova :yeah:.
Another victory over a top 300 member! Now she will have to overcome Jugic-Salkic to secure a spot into the MD which is definitely possible considering the way she has been playing recently. Allez!
Nov 3rd, 2008, 02:43 AM
i don't know who to support now! I love them both! so either way I will be happy.
Nov 3rd, 2008, 02:38 PM
Stéphanie lost 64 64. She had her chances but I've been said that Mervana was simply better today. She will play Opole in two weeks time to finish the season. ;)
Nov 18th, 2008, 02:53 PM
Stéphanie qualified to the main draw of Opole without dropping a set, that's a solid start! Now she really has to get a win so that she can get a little bit more than one point. We don't know yet who will be her first opponent...
Nov 19th, 2008, 11:35 AM
Stéphanie got through easily to reach second round beating Milevskaya 61 61 :D. The young star has been handicaped by an injury and it seems that she is struggling to recover. Still, it's another top 300 win for Steph, her 7th of the year. Well done!!
I'm so glad that she is building consistent results week after week. Hope she can find a way to finish the year in top 300, this is really where she belongs.
Next : Chaknashvili/Dulgheru. Tougher but still beatable! Allez Steph!
Nov 20th, 2008, 01:53 AM
I think she has definently her chances to be top 300 by the end of the year!
continue stéph :D
Nov 20th, 2008, 12:52 PM
Stéphanie reaches a 3rd QF in a 25.000$ tournament this season!!!! :woohoo:
She defeated Maka 64 76(5) and plays now Tsurenko, a 19-year-old Ukrainian girl who is in the same configuration as Steph. Both girls won a 10.000$ title recently and scored pretty good wins in their last tournament. No matter the result this is really an excellent tournament for Stéphanie who is really proving how worthy of top 300 she is. Since it's her last event of 2008, she will need to advance one step further to be sure of finishing the year inside ... so come on, give everything!!!!
Nov 20th, 2008, 01:10 PM
thanks for the updates,Iceland.
Keep going Steph!!!! :bounce:
Nov 21st, 2008, 01:45 PM
Steph lost 75 61 . Still a great tournament, no regrets here!
Nov 22nd, 2008, 09:09 AM
oh it's dissapointing though, I would love to see Vongsouthi in AO qualies :p
Jan 13th, 2009, 04:17 PM
Stéphanie is back in action for the first 10.000$ of the year!!! Here is the draw:
(1)Stephanie Vongsouthi (FRA) v Jade Curtis (GBR)
Irini Georgatou (GRE) v (wc)Jennifer Ren (GBR)
Natasha Khan (GBR) v (Q)Danielle Brown (GBR)
(8)Conny Perrin (SUI) v Amra Sadikovic (SUI)
(4)Stefania Boffa (SUI) v Petra Pajalic (SLO)
Agnese Zucchini (ITA) v (Q)Beatriz Garcia-Vidagany (ESP)
Charlotte Rodier (FRA) v (Q)Nicolette Van Uitert (NED)
(6)Hanne Skak Jensen (DEN) v Kristina Steiert (GER)
She will have a bit of pressure to handle as she is the top seed here. She won this 10k in Lisbon in the same conditions though which shows she can do it! The only thing is that it's a pretty strong tournament to start off the year. I quite like the fact that she will directly get into tough conditions which is better to find form ... but beating Curtis, Ren, Georgatou & Perrin won't be easy!
I'm pretty curious to see how she will play. I have big hopes for her in 2009.
Jan 15th, 2009, 05:54 PM
Stéphanie reached today the QF of Glasgow beating Curtis 61 63 & Georgatou 75 63!
Great results to begin the season because these 2 youngsters are not bad at all! I really hope she can keep this consistency!
Allez Steph :hearts:.
Jan 17th, 2009, 01:01 PM
Stéphanie is starting 2009 in such a fashion! She has dominated the 4th seed, Stefania Boffa, pretty easily beating her 61 62!!! Thus she has already qualified to the final of this tough 10.000$. I'm extremely happy about so many things, that fact that she seems stronger than last year feeling no pressure about her status, the beatdowns given to these good players and the prospect of a great season!
She faces now Emma Laine who has been as impressive as her. She has even more experience since she's a former top 100 player. I didn't like her game but she is certainly very motivated to come back to where she belonged once.
Stéphanie has a pretty dreadful record in final, I really hope she takes this one! At least she has the Lisbon title with herself so she knows how to keep herself cool. Allez!!!! :hearts:
Jan 18th, 2009, 09:57 AM
merci pour les nouvelles antoine
et continue stéph!
Jan 18th, 2009, 01:18 PM
Stéphanie lost 46 62 76(2). God, such a fight to lose in the end. She is a professionnal tennis player, she should know how to deal with this kind of disappointment but it surely feels terrible right after. Congrats anyway on a great 1st week!!!!!!
She should participate in the US tour now. Allez!
Jan 20th, 2009, 06:42 PM
Jan 22nd, 2009, 10:19 AM
what will be her classement now?
Feb 3rd, 2009, 09:20 AM
Steph has a new career high this week : 321st :yeah:.
She is in the final round of Rancho Mirage's qualies against Anne Yelsey. I really hope she gets into the main draw, there are interesting spots for qualifiers. It's important that she takes as many points as possible during the start of season.
The only thing which annoys me is that she has committed to 2 10.000$ in Portugal for the next weeks. She has absolutely no reason to compete in these low tournaments which dont grant many points... Maybe it means she doesn't fully feel confident in her game....
Anyway she is focused on this 25.000$ this week, if she goes far, she will realize that she's too good for a 10k! So ALLEZ!
Feb 4th, 2009, 06:29 AM
Stéphanie qualified easily 63 62 and plays now against Anne Schaeffer. Not such a bad draw even though the German girl will be the favourite. ;)
Feb 4th, 2009, 10:24 PM
i think i saw schaefer play in australia and she was really quite unremarkable so I think Steph has her chances if she can hold things together.
Feb 4th, 2009, 10:42 PM
I have just learnt that she lost to Anne :( Don't know the scoreline yet... pretty disappointing!
So it means she will have to play and win these 10ks...

(5)Stéphanie Vongsouthi FRA def. (LL)Martina di Giuseppe ITA 64 60
Needed to save one MP! Well done Stéphanie! Faces Shuai Zhang now .
At least this 10k has an interesting field so it should take the best from her. There is always a risk at playing all those low tournaments. Players are more prone to losing to girls with a lesser rank so it might damage their confidence in the end. She can really be trapped there. I hope she captures one title so that she sees she is good enough for 25k. After Lyon, she will play Dijon & Bath :help:.
Maybe she wants to be a direct acceptance... I would understand that she's fed up with qualies...
Disappointing :o She will never get out of these 10k at this rhythm.
Mar 10th, 2009, 07:48 PM
Even more disappointing
(Q)Audrey Bergot FRA def. (4)Stéphanie Vongsouthi FRA 64 62
Mar 21st, 2009, 12:20 PM
But here is a better week for Stéphanie :yeah: : she reached the semi-final of Bath without dropping a set! She is defending the points of the final she made there last year so she won't improve much her ranking but it's still good to take for her confidence.
She will finally be playing tougher tournaments soon, she is starting at Jersey (25k) next week!
SF against Naomi Broady. Good luck!
Mar 21st, 2009, 04:17 PM
She's in final now ! She defeated Broady 62 75.
She's definitely the better player in final as she have to play Italian Verardi. She should win that.
Mar 21st, 2009, 04:23 PM
Good luck in the final,Steph! :D
Mar 22nd, 2009, 01:43 PM
Stéphanie won the title 62 64 over Verardi! 2nd ITF title for her :yeah:.
She has not been bothered by anyone in this tournament. Good to see her erasing last week's disappointment in such a fashion! She should be over 10k now she proved herself she is too good for this level. Next week she will be in Jersey (25k) and then around Monzon (75k) or Torhout (100k).
Hope she can score a big win this season soon ;). The field will be quite tough in Jersey with Foretz, Camerin, O'Brien, Woerle & Stanciute. Allez, keep on winning please!
Mar 22nd, 2009, 04:08 PM
Congrats Steph!! :bigclap:
Mar 24th, 2009, 09:17 PM
Stéphanie has committed to a new 10k in Croatia the week of the 6th of April :weirdo:

Mar 25th, 2009, 04:28 PM
Stéphanie :yeah: Good win
She wasted many breal points in first set. I thought she was going to lose this set.
Now against Foretz. Really tough match but Steph' can win :)
Mar 25th, 2009, 04:47 PM
Very pleased with the win, it's statistically the best one she secured this year... and it's already the 16th!!! :D I was at uni so I was just following that with my mobile phone ; some nice posters updated me so I could enjoy Stéphanie's match too! Jurak lost many close matches this year so it's quite promising that Stéphanie managed to bagel her.
I'm quite positive about this encounter with Foretz who was really helped by the large amount of DF hit by Pichet. I'm at least expecting a competitive match, come on Stéph (V:p)!

If only she knew how to control her nerves... Still a positive tournament! She will finally break top 300 :) Now it's time to start winning big matches again. Her best win this season happened only yesterday against Védy. She can really do better!

Unfortunately, I missed the second because someone I know was ill and unfortunately she lost
Jun 10th, 2009, 07:53 AM
Stéphanie plays in Campobasso this week and has just reached the second round after beating Claudia Giovine 63 76 :yeah:. She doesn't have any impressive win this year but at least her results are quite consistent - when she doesn't overplay. I hope this invitation with the very best girls in Roland-Garros has given her more confidence so that she makes this new step. She could really do well in this 25k.
She may face in the 2nd round Maka Chaknashvili who was a 25k finalist last week. Stéph can count on last year's win over her to repeat the same strategy ^^
Jun 13th, 2009, 08:12 AM
Stéphanie reaches SF of Campobasso! :bounce:
I'm really happy because she has already defended her points of last year in Mont de Marsan. She defeated Chakhnashvili & Holland in straight sets! Now the toughest is to beat the 7th seed Nathalie Vierin who seems to be playing well again. Allez Steph!!

A good tournament! She's going to have a couple of points to defend this Summer so I hope she keeps on playing as well as these last days. She's going to take a little break and should be back in 2 weeks time.
