NBC is showing the Woman's Final on Tape Delay at 11am Eastern time. The match starts 9am eastern time. NBC, please give your broadcast rights to a cable network that will show the Finals LIVE! Also, will NBC edit the match?

Gumby, nothing has changed and, yes, I wish they'd sell their rights to the FO if they're going to continue to be so negligent.

Hi Gumby! :wavey:
It is pathetic NBC is going to delay televising this match.
Yet they are going to televise the men's championship LIVE on Sunday. Go figure!

They've always taped the women's final...nothing new...still crap.
Jun 7th, 2002, 06:27 PM
What time is it supposed to air on tape delay, so I can tape it?:)
Jun 7th, 2002, 07:42 PM
it airs at 11 am EST Dawn! :wavey:

If they EDIT IT, I will write them the NASTIEST LETTER they have EVER SEEN!!!
seriously, its bad enough when they cut out entire swatches of matches, if they even TOUCH THE FINALS OF A GRAND SLAM, it'll be pretty nasty.
anyway, I'm just going to avoid any news sources and then watch it on tape delay. thats pretty much all I can do. the good news is maybe they'll get better ratings by having it on later so the West Coast can watch. Better ratings means more fuel to the fire that women's tennis should get equal footing with mens.
have a great weekend everyone!

I'm trying to remember if they edited any of the women's final match last year. That was a long match, but I can't remember if they "moved ahead due to time restrictions" or anything. The French Open and it's coverage is the worst slam for women ever. At least Wimbledon shows live coverage of women's final. My face will still be glued to the tv set though!

Ridiculous. People have been screaming at NBC for years to show the women's final live, and they still tape it.
NBC, we can wake up early to watch tennis. You need to wake up, period.
Jun 7th, 2002, 09:34 PM
If it goes three sets and at least one set is lopsided, I will not be surprised if they drop the entire set .
Jun 7th, 2002, 09:42 PM
they have 3 hours set aside. I think they only had 2 last year. and this year it comes on at 11am instead of 2. So it's a little better, but they still have a ways to go.
Jun 8th, 2002, 03:26 AM
Well good news is that they'll move it to a later time slot and get better ratings... :D
That's good for women's tennis.
Jun 8th, 2002, 03:29 AM
NBC should learn that there is eomthing called, THE INTERNET. Soemtimes if you want good ratings more people will actually watch a match if its live because they don't know the f@cking result...
Jun 8th, 2002, 05:27 AM
I hope that they show the trophy ceremony also......
I guess from 9 to 11 am I'll be in my room without the tv or radio on... Gives me a chance to finally clean up a bit. :-o

I agree, this is ridiculous.:(
NBC has been showing the FO women's final "tape-delayed" for YEARS. And every year, they show the men's final "live".
