Can they just go to an automatic default like that? Or did she get code violations beforehand? Usually it's warning, point, game, match...right?

It's just as well though. She's already won Junior Wimbledon and reached the quarters of Stockholm and Memphis this year. She really should be playing pro events full time now...

She's not injured, just read it on Danish TV website. That was the initial news they got, but it's incorrect.
Caro is indeed disqualified. She says the umpire made big error and she asked him to put his glasses on, and he became very angry and disqualified her. But she's not that upset and is looking forward to playing WTA tournaments in Asia.

Would a USTA umpire have defaulted an Alexa Glatch for this, even if she did insult him/her personally? Or a marquee player in the maindraw, like the aforementioned Nikki? If not, its patently unfair to default a foreign junior or a non-marquee player, IMO. (Jen's probably gotten away with worse. Not to mention Connors, McEnroe, Nastase, Tiriac, etc. back when).

Anyone knows what this mean?I just know what diskvalifi means...

Excuse me, but what's the source for this account as well as the other quote you provided directed at the chair umpire? It makes a darn big difference if this was an independent eye witness or simply someone hearing the line umpire's version of events.

Telling a line umpire to take off his sunglasses is a pretty dumb idea, not to mention actually cursing him out if that was the case. If she has complaints, she should address them to the chair and not pick at random officials. Caroline needs to learn that lesson - and I suspect she may have. She has shown this tendency to argue with officials in the past.

Coming from a female junior it's not unlikely that an adult linesman will consider the "sunglasses" comment even more insulting than if a top ATP player had said the same. This could explan why the situation escalated so badly.

Oh, no. I wondered what happened in that match. I have been following Wozniacki through the scores, but I've never seen her play. I hope this was a one time thing, and I hope the umpire did something really dreadful. I hope this is a learning experience for her and she reels in her tongue or at least learns to say awful things in Danish. ;)

Excuse me, but what's the source for this account as well as the other quote you provided directed at the chair umpire?
This is the major question. One of these posts sounds like it's a joke; we have one version where she's telling him to put his glasses on; another version where she's telling him to wear sunglasses. Is there any substantiation for her supposed language to either a linesman or the umpire? Or is all that embellishment for the sake of the story? (i.e., not true).

We just had a thread earlier about something Vera Z. supposedly said, that turned out not to be true. :fiery:

There is something here that has not been answered yet in this thread. Was given prior warning to shut up before she got defaulted or in juniors a player can get defaulted right away?

Seems like she should have been given a point or game penalty first and then defaulted if she kept going.

Now perhaps juniors have different rules but it still has not been addressed here.

you dont need to give a warning if the linesman felt she had swore at him (which i dont think she did)
the Referee can default if its reported.
had it been a regular match on tour, i doubt she would have been defaulted (i.e. the linesman probably wouldnt have even mentioned it to the umpire)

Oh, it's probably just a typo. I think tenn_ace meant to say:
"I have the full account of details and will post it about a year from now." ;)

Maybe we could all join hands and sing "Kumbaya, my Lord" to kill time until this "full account" is posted.

Kumbaya, my Lord, kumbaya!
Kumbaya, my Lord, kumbaya!
Kumbaya, my Lord, kumbaya!
O Lord, kumbaya!

According to Jon Wertheim today on USA Network, Caroline was defaulted for "cussing out an umpire" (Al Trautman's words), but she was not fined. :o

Very strange behavior when she seemed to be winning easily

Can we please have this "full account" posted now. Or at least a rectification of the initial claims if no such account exists. I don't think this is asking too much of the thread starter. :p
