View Full Version : Possibly Roddick's retirement ceremony will be bigger than Lindsay's

I'm sure with the sexist attitude of USO organisers, the retirement ceremony of Roddick will be over the top whereas they will dedicate a few minutes to Lindsay... even if Roddick finishes his career with one slam.

Lindsay will probably retire quietly and not announce that a tournament will be her last. I don't remember all this mania when Pete retired because Pete announced his retirement while on a break.

I'm positive the USTA will WANT to organize a big tribute to Lindsay at whichever US Open follows her retirement announcement -- the question is, whether she'll agree to it. ;) That's not really her style, but I'd hope she would.

yes, he didnt say that the USO would be his last tournament until AFTER he won it.

The following year, they threw Pete a MASSIVE ceremony, so the maina was not when he actually retired, but the USTA did do a lot for him the following year :wavey:

Lindsay has said in the past that there will not be a retirement party or ceremony. She can't talk in front of that many people. So she doesn't care. So the USTA can do whatever they want. Lindsay will go out quietly.

They can hype the hell out of Andre, and later on Andy. But Lindsay will do her retirement on her terms, when ever that day comes.

Roddick is 24 btw, and he'll win more slams than 1:cool:

Lindsay won't get the hype that Pete's got or Andre's getting atm
she never like the hype and I doubt she will agree if they offered a ceremony

Lindsay probably won't have a retirement ceremony... she'll go out quietly under the radar.

Lindsay retiring quietly would be really fitting when you think about. Lindsay whole career has been based around quitet achievement and why not retire that way. I don't think the media will let it happen but it wouldn't surpise me if does happen that way. I'm headging bets for Indian wells next year.

Yeah she would probably want it that way, it has nothing to do with anyone being "sexist".

I agree. Lindsay, both as a person and her career, has always been understated so I doubt she'd want a huge blow-out party anyway. She would definitely get a nice retirement ceremony at the USO but ultimately, it's up to her and what she wants.

Lindsay has way more class than Andy.
