Te rain will not stop until 10 a.m. tomorrow...int he nick of time. I'd say there's about a 1% chance that a ball will even be served today. Even if they start a match, they won't be able to finish.

I know its off an on, but right now (10 Miles East of USTA Center) there is a small breach of the sun through the clouds with no rain. It's going to be very hard to play in this windy weather.

Reminds me of Toronto last year  Heavy winds becoz of the leftovers from another hurricane (forgot which one..) Its actually fun to see the ball go in all directions

I'm not sure...

They've moved the Davenport/Srebotnik match because it's one of only two outstanding matches in the bottom half, and thus don't want the winners to be at a greater disadvantage (that's what I think anyway). So I think they might move the Schnyder-Bartoli match to first on Court 11.

the wind worries me, these matches are going to be full on errorfests in this. The wind is ENE at 27 mph, gusting to 42 mph. How the hell are the players going to serve in this?

The radar has the looked the same since 9 am, the rain is coming off the Atlantic is scooting the area where Flushing is, the rain isn't moving in a direction toward that area its just raining over the same area. The rain is making no progress north or east, its just mocing off the ocean and much of LI and NYC is getting spared.

They just showed Roddick and Sharapova hitting on Ashe.

i'm not sure how fast this system is moving, but judging by the radar over the last three hours or so, it's at a snails pace. There's no front to push it out to sea.

I think the day session has been cancelled because Andy Roddick has been sent home for the day and told he will play his match tomorrow.

This event should be called Washed Out Open instead of US Open:umbrella:

Not yet, but it isn't looking like it will be played becuase there is a 60% chance of rain for tonight.

I hope i am wrong, but it isn't looking good for tonight's matches becuase:

1) The NY Yankees game has just been called after 8.5 innings (the Yankees lost:sad: ). The Yankees are in a pennant chase and they would have waited until midnight to finish this game if they knew the weather would clear up.

2) The Boston Red Sox, whose game was scheduled for 7:05 EDT, was moved to 1:05 EDT (they lost:D ) beuase they knew they wouldn't be able to get game in becuase of the rain.

The back edge of the rain is in Central NJ, it is approximately 15 miles away from me, and I'm 30 miles directly from Flushing. It is not raining in Philly, and should stop in Trenton in a few minutes.
