I've read and heard lots about this girl, but I'm sorry, she looks to me like an overweight, disinterested, unfit, spiteful Greek housewife! I can't believe she's taken the first couple of games against one of my favourite mentalists, Peppermint Patty!

yes, bartoli's game is as painful to watch for me as sharapova's.fortunately we have patty's perfect technique!marion's serve is a nightmare!!!! years ago when she won USO juniors, French commentators always praised her game, so i was eager to see the phenomenon. and i was so disappointed the firdt time I watch her. her technique is disgusting, her body is weird, and not an athlete body! (French comentators said she lost 7kgs since wimbledon...didn't notice)and ppl say ana ivanovic is fat!
moreover this player is strange, i remember her playin with a glove because her hand was injured...according to commentators it's due to her high IQ(she's champion of cerebral academy nintendo game...she'd better go to the gym!!!)
at leats she's unique!

Marion has been injured so many times she has never gotten much momemtum. This summer, she finally played several matches and played them quite well. Between that and Patty's propensity toward having "Hingis moments," anything can happen.

What's the problem with Marion?? At least she's got personnality

She's got a few more pounds than before, but with that outfit she s hiding nothing, fat? maybe a little. overweight? Please be serious!! I'm curious to see her in the black adidas for example because all players who wore it were looking dangerously slim

Her technique isn t so weird, she s returning great so far and I like her, the serve motion isn t so horrible and on tv you re not even noticing it. The worse with her is her movement, a little lazy but is she the only one???

Reading notes is actually quite clever if she cans

Do you want a tour with 100 russian blonde 16 y.o. with weak serve, and 2handed backhand??? Even if I like that kind of players sometimes, it s really good that there's a place for Serena as for Camille Pin, for Daniela and Romina Oprandi, for Lindsay and Franny, for JHH and Mara Santangelo, for Sharapova as for Patty Schnyder!!!

how do you say it in english???

D I V E R S I T Y!! :worship: :bounce: :worship: :bounce: :worship: :bounce: :worship: :bounce: :) :) :)

The rain delay may help Marion, as she's down 1-3 in the 2nd. If the match is interrupted for a day or two, she'll start fresh like in the first set, so PP can't just outlast her.

Bartoli could be in better shape, but she's hardly fat. There was a time when she desperately needed more muscle if she was going to improve, and she did add the muscle, but now she could stand to take a little of the weight off. No argument there.

I've never understood all the negativity towards Bartoli on these boards. No, she's never going to be a top player, but aside from injuries she has developed into very solid player. And she came up at the same time as several players who were all getting more hype at the same age - Harkleroad, Widjaja, Mikaelian. Bartoli has surpassed all of them.

Marion's a fan of Monica Seles who happened to become a tennis player. She's unique. And that's laudable. I'm very proud of her.
We've got many types of players and they make the game richer inmho. I hate how the game is becomming so stereotyped on the WTA except from some particular girls (JHH, Kimmy, Franny, Schnyder, etc...) ...Amélie is finesse, Tati is puncher, Mary is super-puncher, Marion is the only one double-handed both sides etc...etc... ;)

Italian players too are great for loving beautiful and inventive game.

sure, having only tall blonde players hitting the ball without brains would be really annoying! i didn't say anything bad about Marion's game...just that it's ugly.
but i have nothing wrong with strange ppl...actually marion is unique and that's what makes me curious to know her, and i think it's the same with a lot of ppl. she's intriguing...and not for her supposed 'beauty'.

i don't have anything against her but she certainly seems to be a bit of an odd ball (which is fine as well). There aren't many players who would halt play leading 4-0 against a player like Patty who can be so mentally fragile sometimes that she just hands matches away. I guess she's pretty injury prone though.

It will interesting to see how the match turns out tomorrow if they get on. The wind always has a pretty big impact on Patty's game so hopefully it will calm down a bit and we'll get a decent match.

I was shocked when I saw Bartoli live for the first time at Eastbourne this year. She looks more unlike a professional athlete than any tennis player I've ever seen. Her shirt was loose and you could see her gut hanging over her skirt. She definitely looked overweight and not the fittest.

Bartoli is a very good player, with a great service (despite the funny motion, she can place it very well), and with a good sense of the court. Have you guys seen her playing doubles? She is very smart, she plays like some of the 30-something doubles specialists who know exactly where to put the ball. She's normally very positive on court too. Focusing on the things that are working well.

Her body has changed a lot from last year, I was also a bit surprised when I saw her at EB this year, but I think it is only a temporary thing. She's around the age when women's bodies change a lot. She just needs to figure out a good training regime and she'll be ok.

she had an amazing run at Auckland this year

She is even better in doubles, as already said, great touch on where to place the ball

However, her serve motion becomes weirder every day and she retires way too much (but not these days fortunately)

Bartoli is very unique.

She is quite big, has a strange serve and is two-handed on both sides. Then, she is injured very often and could have a record of retiring the most times in a match. I remembers she once retired in singles and played doubles the same day...

But I kinda like her and think that she can hit the top-20, but that really strechtes it.
