Congrats Aaron!!! My tennis season my junior year of high school, I played an entire season (from the third match onward) with a TERRIBLE groin pull that just wouldn't heal (because I was 2nd singles, and my team needed me to play at whatever capacity I had). The fact that I managed to go 25-8 was astonishing basically with the mobility of Davenport but significantly worse because of the injury.

Perhaps it was because I was forced to go Seles on people and hit into the corner from ball one.

Playing in the Summer provincial championships this week-end.

Main draw of 8 players (two round robin groups of 4). 6 players are actually in the main draw, and the lowest of them is 18th in the country. It's ridiculous.

Two other spots are open for qualifiers in a 64 draw with BYEs. Of course, got the worst draw possible: a tricky first round opponent, and the first seed (ranked around 25-30 in Canada) in the second round. Sucks, cause I can beat a lot of players in this draw, including some of the 8 seeds against whom I've had good results before

Im new to playing tennis and only play recreational but me and my brother play pro sets...
Last week (first match) I had a shocker (couldnt get a first serve in and my second just sat up for him to hit...) I lost 8/4 after him leading 7*/1 40/15... so not SOOO bad!!!

Yesterday I won 8/3... My serve came back...
After a first game that lasted for 8 deuces I finally held... played pretty good throughout and took all my chances...
At 7*/3 Ad out... I hit my first ace... deuce, unreturnable outwide... MP, unreturnable down the tee which seemed to knock my brothers arm out of its socket (the biggest serve I have ever hit)!!!

Played for the first time yesterday in over a month and then played a match today and actually played decently for the first set. But i was playing a pusher and he just kept getting everything back and I turned into an error machine. The fact that i won the match shows how poor he was. 6-1 4-6 6-3. A wins a win i guess...

Annihilated my friend 6-1, 6-0, 6-0. I was close to having it a triple bagle, as I had a 5-0 lead in the first, but I let him win a game ;). I also won over my second cousin who played college tennis years ago 6-3, 6-3. Beat another friend 7-6, 6-2. Blew a 4-2 lead in the first in that one.

I got my rear end handed to me in a tournament today. Not only did I lose 2-6, 1-6, I didn't hold serve the whole match. Not even once. Seven service games, ZERO holds. It was the most frustrating match I have ever played in my life. I'm going to need TWO pints of Ben & Jerry's Chocolate Fudge Brownie to forget this one.

On two of those, my opponent doubled on break point; THAT'S what's so frustrating. If I had taken care of my serve like I was supposed to, I would have had a real shot at winning.

I won my first match of the Ultimate Tennis Fall season (4.0), 6-1, 6-4. I got a high percentage of first serves in, I kept the unforced errors to a minimum, and VOILA! A straight-sets victory. Funny how that works, isn't it? ;)

Yes!! Yes!! At last!! At last I came back in a match, I'm the ultimate choker and this happening to me is just amazing!! I led in the first set by 5-0 15-30, ok he wins the game nothing wrong, just serve it out now, mmm broken at love, ok his serve is not good I'll break him now, horrible game from me, 5-3, damn serve it out NOW!! ok broken at 30-40, then 5-4 he's serving, wake the f*ck up!!! 15-40 ok ok, miss the superpower return, 30-40 hmmm let's push he's also nervous, I won the set!!! then in the 2nd I was playing horrible coz after being so tight in the 1st set I relaxed, down 2-4, then I tell myself this hasn't ended yet! this has just started, I get 4-4 and I break him for a 5-4 lead with Serena Williams spirit, I think I made a winner return out of 3 of his 5 serves, then 5-4 serving for the match, getting tight again, 0-40, I don't even know how I came back but I got to deuce, then advantage him, I got to the net with no common sense, he tries the passing shot on the backhand side but I catch it with 2 hands and make a drop volley, deuce, big serve, advantage me, then some pushing he finally fails and OMG I won!!!!!!! The first unchoke I've ever commited!! :spit:

I just finished winning a 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 marathon against a kid who had to be 20 years my junior. :yeah:

First set: I just plain got smoked. I could tell during the warmup that my opponent had no backhand at all, but I never got a chance to hit him one. I was getting around late on his first serve, and my feet were stuck to the court.

Second set: Streaky, streaky, streaky. I won the first two games (hold, break), then he won the next two games (break, hold), then I won the next two games, then he won the next two games, then I won the next two games to close out the set. My footwork was MUCH better and I started to find his backhand.

Third set: I started hold-break-hold to go up 3-0, then held serve the rest of the way. Only one of his service games didn't go to deuce. I put a lot of pressure on him, and it paid off.

I don't know about anyone else here, but it takes me a LONG time to decompress after a match, especially when I win. It also takes a while for my 45-year-old body to recover after a tough three-setter. It was worth every ache and pain, though. :bounce:

I played a marathon match yesterday as well :D :D It was AMAZING! We had the longest rallies and we wouldn't give up! It lasted well over 2 hours and everyone was watching us. I had a game on my serve that went to Deuce 13 ! I finally won that game and then she held her serve. I ended up losing the match 5-7, 4-6 with just a little too many UE's and inconsistent serve. We smiled and praised each other as we shook hands so I'm not upset for losing to her :D

TOday I had my 3.5 match. The girl I played was 10 min late so according to the rules I was 2 games up and won the toss. After we warmed up I knew it would be a pretty tough match because she hit the ball very flat - though even in the warm up I could tell she was nervous. I played Caroline style, putting more topspin on the ball and kept her moving and pulled the trigger at the right times. I won the first set 6-1. Then I just kept it up and won the second in no time 6-0. So it was nice to win a match easy like this after a marathon yesterday, haha!

I had my first-round (of 32) match in an NTRP tournament (4.0) and lost 6-3, 7-5 to a kid half my age. I was up 4-2 and serving in the second set, but couldn't hold. I was two points away at 5-4 on my opponent's serve, but couldn't get it done. Balls that would be winners against guys my age were being run down. At least I have the consolation draw tomorrow.

Today I won a very tough match against my friend Mike, 6-7 (5), 6-3, 6-4. :)

I had a 5-2 lead in the first set then just kinda choked away the lead, then I had a 5-0 lead in the TB and while, I went into Safina mode, self destructed and lost the TB 5-7 and even double faulted on SP. After that I was screaming and cussing at myself and hitting myself in the legs with my racquet. In the second set I started to change up the pace and came into net more and it was a winning combination as I took a 5-2 lead in the third set and choked a bit but finally managed somehow to finish off the match. :sobbing: Only 14 double faults today though! :cheer:

I'm playing only my 2nd tournament ever this coming weekend and trying not to get too nervous. I've only been playing tennis reasonably seriously for the past 3 years and am 33 years old. I love it though (I grew up as a good squash player).

So yeah, I'm still improving but will be a lot older than most other guys playing the tournament. I'm entered in the graded singles (a bit more club/social level) and the open level (more competitive) and hoping I can play well and not embarrass myself. It's to gauge my level. I live in a small town and I'm about the best in town but don't know how I'll go playing guys from other places. I could do okay, or I could get thrashed. Either, I'll try and have fun! Wish me luck! :)

EDIT: Ok, I got the draw and mine are pretty good... not playing any seeded players in R1 so hopefully I'll at least have close matches and hopefully a win or two!

Well, I played my R1 match not long ago and much to my surprise i won it very easily! 6-1 6-0 :woohoo: (This is in a small tournament in a town near where I live with some national ranking points and a little bit of prizemoney).

The guy I played against played a really bad match and I didn't have to do too much. But I still played fine and kept my head and made sure I stayed on track. The guy I played had bought a new racquet the afternoon of the match! He didn't know how to play with it yet.

So I'm feeling pleased with myself and am very happy because I'll now get an Australian Ranking! :) A minor goal of mine.. hehe

Tomorrow morning I play the 6th seed who should beat me easily, but I'll have a go and see what happens. Wish me luck. :)

Thanks Ben! Well I've had the hugest day ever. Played 6 matches today (7 hours on court) and I'm sooooooo tired.

I lost my R2 Open singles match to the 6th seed 2-6 2-6. Then lost the consolation draw match 6-7 2-6.

I'm also playing in the "graded singles" which is more like a social comp. I won the 1st round 6-0 6-3 which put me into a QF match I was dreading. It was against a 10 year old kid who plays verrrry well but is soooo small he looks like he's about 7! I was down 1-3 but thankfully turned it around to win 9-3. I play the SF tomorrow.

In the Open doubles we won the 1st round (more ranking points! :)) but got double bagelled by the top seeds: the last match in a very exhausting day. Phew!

Phew!

I can't imagine playing 7 hours of tennis for a day, unless I was super super fit  But I'm sure you'll get better & better with the more matches you'll play :)

The last 10 ten times I played my bf he won all 10 times

7-6(4) 6-4
6-0 6-2
6-4 6-3
6-1 6-3
7-6(4) 6-2
6-1 7-6 (0)
7-5 6-1
6-0 5-7 6-3
6-2 6-3
6-0 6-2

:help:

 :awww: maybe you could bribe him

Congrats :yeah: no, that is really awesome. A national ranking is just great to get considering the fact that you don't wanna go pro or anything like that, & at your age & when you started playing tennis is excellent.

Keep it going!

I played this dude in Division 4 the other week and I won 6-0, 5-7, 6-1.

It lasted almost 2 hours and a half, it was the longest match I've played in the competition. I won the first set rather comfortably, I didn't play great but my opponent kept making errors. Then in the second set he played much better and the momentum changed—don't know what got to me. He led 4-0 before I regrouped, but he broke for 6-5 and I lost the set, sadly. I was nearly dead by the beginning of the third set but I still won 6-1, I suppose he was tired too. I'm glad I won, it was good quality from the beginning to the beginning of the third set—one of the best matches I've enjoyed playing. It was very ugly tennis at the end though. :o

Today I won a match vs my friend Michael: 1-6, 6-2, 6-4

It was really hard for me to get adjusted in the first set cause he kept hitting flat shots to my bh and that's the side where I really have no good shot for defense and I usually run around to hit the fh. Once I started changing pace (yes I hit a few moonballs) he started to hit more to the middle of the court and try to tire me out with long rallies which is the worst idea cause I can run for days. I started hitting more freely off my forehand side and my net play was the best it's ever been. My serve has improved bunches hit 6 aces today!! :hearts: 13 double faults but who cares about that stat. :p

^Good work young gunner.

I'm entered in another little tournament this weekend which is exciting and nerve-wracking. It's on clay and I've never played on clay before - had my first hit on it the other day. It's a draw of 64 so I'm hoping I don't draw a seed in the first round - will find out this afternoon what the draw is. I'm trying not to think about winning or improving my Australian ranking, but just think about playing well and improving. Will keep you posted.

EDIT: Okay Draw's out! 1st round singles on Friday: I play an unranked guy (thank goodness!) and maybe the 13th seed in the 2nd round if I win. In the doubles, we didn't draw a seed but if we win, we play the top seeds! (But their ranking aren't extraordinary, thankfully). Wish me luck!!

Day 1 of a little tournament in Canberra (I posted about it above).

It was stinking hot - about 34 celsius and soooo humid. I was playing an unranked guy in the 1st round who played pretty well. I went up 4-1, then a minor choke and back to 4-4 and luckily took the set 6-4. Same story in the 2nd: went up 5-2, then back to 5-4 then I served. Was happy with a 6-4 6-4 win and a few more Aussie ranking points :)

Only an hour's rest and then 2nd round match against the 13th seed who's ranked 540 in Australia. He was solid and beat me easily 6-0 6-2. At least I avoided the double bagel!

Tomorrow is 1st round doubles and the consolation draw. All good fun!

First match of this season: I lost :o

3-6 2-6

I played against someone, who is playing tennis since over 20 years, well, I'm playing since 1 3/4 years :o
It was my first match after really a long time, so my serve was kinda not existing.
Since the end of the first set, I found my serve and could score some points and even serve some Ace's again :cheer:
I was *0-5 behind and managed to get a BP at 3-5* 40-30 but made an UE on the return
I was leading in the 2nd set with 1-0* but from then on, I just couldn't win a game, I had several BP and GP with 40-15 or even 40-0 but I couldn't serve it out in the end :sobbing:
I made some good points with the FH but also maaaaany mistakes with it, the BH was ok. He played really short shots and I couldn't handle them, so that's why I lost in the end that high.
But with about 15 DF's and only 4-6 Ace's it was a good result in the end, nevertheless I was disapointed...:awww:

Next time will be better for sure :yeah::rocker2::cool:

Lost today to someone playing their second tennis match ever :sobbing: 1-6

In my defense, I haven't worked out in ages, and it was really hot. He's a big VB player, so he was banging in serves and I had trouble getting anything working except my BH. But of course, as a new player, he just kept hitting his FH crosscourt, and I'm not too big of an attacker.

Really need to hit the gym.

Won my first match on clay this year 6-2 6-2, but that isn't anything I can be proud of :o :o

I started my match with 3 DF's, hahaha, at the end it were 5 in the first service game which I eventually lost on RW. :help:
Afterwards I got in, but still it was painfull to watch I think, my opponent didn't hold serve once and I had in the end at least 15 DF's or more, but only about 3-4 Ace's and 5-6 service winners... :awww:

One thing that I was proud of, was my backhand and return of serve, which really got better over the winter, but sunday I will see how good, because I will meet matthias again after 1 1/2 years, when he beat my ass 0-6 0-6 :bigcry::oh:

Lost today 5-7, 2-6. I had a 5-1 lead in the first set and I kept trying to play aggressive when I started to miss terribly and then I just kept trying different game plans that weren't working. In the second set I started off pushing and quickly found myself at 0-4. The only positive was that I saved 5 mps at 1-5. And my serve was a complete and utter mess in the second set, all together I had 19 double faults.

won yesterday second match 6-3 4-6 [10-4]

I played against my bro in very windy and very cold conditions.
Testing the new string, I tried some things thats's maybe why I have lost so many games to him, but he really did good, for not playing tennis at all. ;) His serve was impressive, but well, we both are playing volleyball, so we have less problems with the serve ;)
Till *3-3 in the first set, none could held serve, but winning 4 games in a row (2-3*) I decided the first set for me :)
In the 2nd I was quickly 0-4* behind :o :o :o I had one service game with 4 DF's in a row :oh: But well, it was really windy :haha:
Afterwards I got my shit togehter and played some nice points again, at 2-4* there was a 15 minutes game, with about 10 BP's and 10 GP's, but in the end my bro got it with two UE's by me. 5 minutes later the score was 6-3 *4-5 and I had the chance for 5-5, but again hadn't the best serve (15-40). But I saved the SP's and had GP, still lost it then with an UE on the FH.
In the match tie break there was nothing special anymore. I won it and have my 2nd win on clay this year.
All in all, it was much better than last match, but still there is a lot of work with the serve and my head :haha:

Sunday I will play matthias and I have to win at least one game :cheer::unsure::scared:

Last Saturday I played a match for my team. I was so relaxed and was really moving well and into the court. I had at least 20 winners in the opening set. I took it 6-1 in about 20 minutes. Then I held serve at love to start the second set and during the next game, my opponent started calling balls out that were right on the line. I'm used to being cheated on and I knew what she was doing. I kept calm and didn't let it get to me and I found myself down 1-2, I just thought "hey, it's alright now. Just hold serve and keep it going. This is your match. You are 1000000 times better than her." I then served a slicer out wide and I could see plane as day it landed right on the line and she called it out. I lost it. I looked at her incredulously and said, "You have got to be KIDDING ME! What the hell...?!?!" She looked at me and said "You think that was in?" And I said "I KNOW that was in. There have been a lot more close calls in the set already!" I calmed myself down and tried everything to regain my focus but before I knew it I was down 1-5. I finally said to myself "Stop it..what are you doing? This is your match!! FIGHT FIGHT!" We battled through a tough game that ended up going 4 deuces but I took it firmly after long deciding rallys.

Then I just kept going without getting ahead of myself and then before I knew it, it was game-set-and match 6-1, 7-5. And then she gave me this excuse at the end of the match saying that "...tennis is not important. It's not worth getting upset over." And I looked straight at her and I said "I'm tired of getting cheated on by 'mature' women. I am 19 years old and shouldn't have to put up with older women cheating on a young girl. I won't take it. And I'm sorry ma'am but tennis is VERY important to me. It's changed my life for the better and I wouldn't give it up for anything else in this world. I understand that you were doing your best with the balls but I could see clearly that those balls landed on the line. I won't be pushed around."

And I didn't mention that after I blew up at her in the middle of the match she stopped calling balls out that were on the line and actually started calling balls that were out, IN! Hahahaha  I scared her that much   Just to say, I don't curse during matches but I won't tolerate cheating ;)

So that was my match, haha

So, it might be Roland Garros, but it's also Quebec City's biggest tourney of the year, the Louis Després.

I haven't played it in like 4 years, being in Montreal, but I'm excited to be back though I'm disappointed I didn't get seeded, probably should've.

This means I get the 6th seed in round three (its a huge draw, more than 128 usually). Not bad, as if I lose in that round I get to the A draw with the 32 other losers and I might have a shot at winning it, really. Last time I reached semis of that one but I'm better now.

I think Charlie woulda posted already if he won. :awww: I even looked for le tournament in the online version of the Kuh-BECK City newspaper, but it seems mostly about the visit of some American political guy:

http://pdf.cyberpresse.ca/lesoleil/grande.jpg

Deportes seems out of date, with an April blog post by some chick named Lav-WAH talking about the NHL as the lead item, not counting RG and the current playoffs. As Commissioner Gary Bettman is mentioned, maybe Le Nordiques of Stastny brothers fame will return.

Yeah. BTW, delete the pic in the quote, as Clinton's is gone; there was no coding I could copy when I posted it, BTW). Maybe we should ask Stephanie Doo-BWAH. Incidentally (especially given the hair) doesn't she kinda look in this pic like Somebody Suisse? :tape:

Oh, I figured out what you meant when the embezzlement story came out 2 months ago by "Peps" (which was obvious) "and the striper" (likely a reference to a guy wearing prison stripes).

So yes, indeed, I lost that match on Friday night: 7-5 3-6 6-4 in barely 3 hours. Sadly I have been hyper sick in the past few days, fever and can barely talk now, so I got on court not feeling my legs, with barely any energy. I'm fricking proud of the way I fought (was down 1-5 in the third, barely managed to level it up), but really disappointing as I had high hopes.

Good part is, as it was my first match (had a bye in the first round), I am now in the B-draw, where I'm considered a fave to win. Played my r16 b-draw match today and won 1 and 0 in barely 30 mins. Quarters probably on tuesday now, I'm really happy to maybe have 1-2-3 matches I definitely am favored to win, its nice for confidence and i definitely need matches. Hopefully the flu will calm down by then :)

So its double elimination, where you could still wind up winning, needing to beat the eventual KO survivor on the A side if you win thru on yours? And maybe Simon Larose can give you some err, "medication" to speed your recovery. So you agree that in the err Picture Posted, your Stephanie looks like the Peppermint Puzzle? :tape:

So, finally ended up playing decent tennis today, first time this week. Won my semifinals 6-1 6-1, was solid all around though my serve was a touch off.

I really shouldn't be in that draw and I think it shows, though my opponent in the finals is kinda in the same situation. So it should be interesting, but I'm confident!

And yes I do get a trophy and even a little prizemoney. Probably enough to pay for my signing up, though I'm giving all my money to Val for our fundraising for cancer :)

today i won my match 7-5 4-6 10-4

i was once again down 2-5 in first set, but then i finally started to handle the windy conditions better and better, and then i won the first set 7-5
second set i was way to passive and was down 1-5, i cam back to 4-5 but then he took the set 4-6
at the beginning of the MatchTiebreak i got a solid 4-0 lead, but he came back to 5-4
but then i took the match 10-4 :woohoo:
was i important win for my team, since it gave us a 4-2 lead after the singles

i won my doubles 6-4 6-2, and overall my Team 6-3

Good job matthias :) That team competitions sound like great fun. It's a pity we don't have something like this here :(

I had a match against a friend I haven't played for more than a month (we play often together). Our matches are very competitive. I am really satisfied with my play today. I won 6-1 6-7 6-1  but my serve wasn't broken for the whole match. I could have won the 2nd set, but a missed an easy volley at 4-4 in the tiebreak and then choked a bit. Anyway, I didn't make many DF's and my groundstrokes were pretty solid and this was probably one of my best matches in the recent months.

So to finish this up, I ended up losing 7-5 7-6(4) in the finals.

Great match really, I'm a natural attacker and he was really defensive. I totally understand how frustrating it is to play Caro now ;), I probably had 30+ winners easily, but also a ton of errors. Long, 15-20 shots rallies all match long, I really got tired in the end of always having to push a little more to attack and missed just a few key shots. Served for both sets at 5-4, but just couldn't keep up the agression and missed a lot of first serves.

And then, after such a tough match, I drove for 3 hours, went to walk all night long for cancer research with Val, slept aout 2 hours, and drove back here. Pheww!

Been on fire lately!

Won my first match today 4-6 6-2 6-3 and hitting some nice serves and FH's against a tough player.

Won my second round 7-6(8) 7-6(7) saving 6 SP's in the first set and 2 SP's in the 2. Played really really well against a big server. There was only 2 breaks.

Won my quarters 3-6 6-4 6-4! Ugly first set and found myself down 3-6 2-4 0-30 and served 3 aces to eventually tough it out against a huge baseliner!

My semi's and hopefully finals are tomorrow!

I will have my first match tomorow at 9.00 am against a 17 years old boy who is also LK23.

3-6 1-6 against LK23, about 15 DF's and 20 UE...hardly a first serve or winner, we were playing in the rain...:facepalm::help:
and
2-6 2-6 against LK21, about 10 ACE's , only about 5-7 DF's and hardly UE's anymore :) was 100x times better than the first match, we were playing indoor the 2nd match.

So yesterday was the 2nd tournament and I lost my first match against LK23 again with 2-6 2-6.
But I had again to play against a pusher and that's what I hate :o :o :o

2nd match was much better :)

I won the first set 6-4, I was leading *4-2 then got broken, but I broke him at 5-4* to take the set :)
He was as well a pusher but worse than the first one
In the 2nd set I lost my serve to 0 and was *0-2 behind.
Afterwards I made 4 games in a row to lead *4-2. :)
But I was completly done at this moment. I had to play 4 matches within 28 hours and the rallies were really long, and as he was all the time trying to drop-shot me, I had to sprint a lot in the match (I got every ball when he tried to drop-shot :) )
My serves weren't anymore powerful and I just hoped for a mistake by him...
4-5*, 5-6* but he couldn't serve it out and we had to play the tie-break were I lost 1-7 :help:
So the match-tie-break had to decide
*0-1, 2-1*, 2-2* and then I played a BH DTL directly on the baseline. but he was trying to cheat and well, I had to replay the point and this damn ass made the point
*2-3, 4-3* and then he made 4 points in a row  4-7*
then again, I broke his serve twice and was serving at *6-7, *7-7...2nd serve on the line and again he wanted to cheat :help:
But there was an umpire at the stands, he checked the mark and I got the point. 8-7*, 8-8* and then he made an UE.
*9-8, first MP for me: I decided to play serve and volley as I had to serve from left to right and this is my good serve-side.
The serve was good, the volley even better, but he somehow got it and I just had to play the ball with my BH in the field, but I missed the field at about 10cm
*9-9: The rally of the match, I was running left and right, back and forward...I lobed him and thought: That's it. but it wasn't, he got the ball back, it jumped at the baseline and I couldn't bring it back...
9-10*: 1st MP for him: I couldn't breath, I was completly k.o., he served twice and I made an return error and lost...

6-4 6-7(1) 9-11

:awww:

Side note: There was a match on my court before I had to play: 2 girls playing.
The big, tall girl was leading 6-1 *4-0 40-15 and in the end she lost the set 5-7 :haha:
The other girl then was leading *8-4 in the match tie-break, had about 6-8 MP's but lost it 18-20
final result: Big, tall girls wins after leading 6-1 *4-0 40-15 with 6-1 5-7 20-18 :rolls:

i´m back from my first Tournament
and i lost both matches too :haha:

i´m LK 17, and my first match was against a older guy with LK 16.
it was a tight match with many long rallies, but in the end i wasn´t able to take my chances.
as example
in 1st set i was down 2-4, came back to 4-4 and had Breakpoint, but wasted the BP.
then he held, and i lost my serve for the first 4-6.
in 2nd set it was 2games all and then we had 4 tight games with many Deuce´s and AD, but i couldn´t take a single game of them.
i had AD at 2-3 and served a DF
and i had AD at 2-5 and served a DF
i the end i lost 4:6 2:6

the weather looked like rain, and so i didn´t get a longer Break then 10 Minutes before i had to play my second match.
I played against Julian, a younger and good looking guy with LK 20, he was better then LK 20 but since he hasn´t played few years he has to work up in the LK`s again.
And then it happend again, right in the first game i blow a 40:00 lead to get broken, the whole match i wasted a few 40:15 and BP
but it was fun to play Julian, we tried to hit hard and it was a relaxed atmosphere, at the end he won 2:6 2:6.
Should had been a bit tighter like 4:6 4:6, but he deserved to win.
and it´s better to go down against a nice cutie then against a asshole ;)#

it was a nice experience to play this tournament, and maybe i play few more in the future

I played a match on friday. It was just one set, preparation for a major upcoming tournament

I lost 4-6.

I had points for 5-5 but I don't play as consistently as I'd like so I'm always rusty. The points I had for 5-5, I had swinging volleys and they just went totally out (wide). It felt weird. Maybe I need to have a less of a swing. It was frustrating.

And my opponents dad came up to me and tried to suss me out more deeply. I quickly shut him down.

Finally played my first tennis match this year against friend and won 6-3, 6-2, 6-2. :D But actually didn't play well at all, especially first set was totally horrible. I also lost my power a little, especially with service (served only 5 aces :sobbing:, where are times when I served at least 10 aces for set?). But anyway, in second and third set I started to serve better, got a lot first services in, forehand was really shaky (it was winner or UE from me), but BH solid (I'm slicing a lot :p). Drop shots didn't work for me, but at least my net game is still so good as it was last year. :D A lot smash and volley winners (really love serve & volley). :D Can't wait to play again, things can only go better, I hope. :)

Someone should show you how to make it. Try to use western grip. Hold your raquet in a lower position before the shot and play it to the highest point. When I was younger, my coach told me I should imagine there is a big wall instead of the net and I have to make it to the other side.

I don't know how to explain it, the set just went by so quickly. I couldn't slow it down until the second set. I lost 0-6 5-7.

I hate playing tennis in the morning.

What can I do if my opponents is slicing the balls back all the time?
I just hate it...

Don't let it affect you so badly. Your opponent will pick up on it and take advantage of you getting frustrated.

We all have shots that are hard for us to hit. Just try to be positive and hang in there when they're slicing and just keep working hard until you get into a position to hit your best shots...

I have a terribly weak topspin backhand, but I just try and stay positive and hang in there until I can blast a forehead or get to the net...

You can do it: :)

Played my second match in our clubs championships today.

Played way better than last time, and got my first game  0-6 1-6
Saved like 3 or 4 GP's in that game and then finally broke him :bounce:
Also had a 40-15 on my serve and 40-0 on his serve in the first set, but I decided to choke. :tape:

My first serve worked so well in training last week. But today I got like 2 or 3 in, over the whole match. :spit:

Nope, it doesn't get better if I use less power. Need to practise a lot more, then it gets better for sure :)

I only started playing tennis like two months ago, so it's still a loooong way...
But great to see all the improvements... I guess today I would have beaten my me from the last match with something like 6-2 6-2 :D

I'm gonna, eventually, get back on the USTA and play men's events. I just dropped competing because of school, but now that I have a car, I certainly will be doing some competing. I miss it...knocking the ball around is fun and everything, but nothing like getting the adrenaline of match point down.

I'm playing in a 4.5 round robin USTA event Saturday. 10 game pro sets for the matches, which I'm a bit nervous about, because I am a notoriously bad pro-set player. Always been a very slow starter, and having a 2nd set reset has always done me well.

I adjusted my service position in the ad court, moving over three feet to the left, and hooked my lefty serve out wide for a bunch of aces. Also nailed the deuce serve out wide and down the T, and threw in enough ad court serves down the T to keep my opponent honest. Best serving day ever. Was tired when I came out, so split sets 1-6, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.

Made it to playoffs as the top seed.

I haven't played much in the past couple of months, but there's a tournament coming up in September that I want to enter. I've played 4 tournaments in the past year and thanks to a string of lucky draws, my Australian ranking is now in the 700s.

It's really cool that my ranking is that high, but now I'm nervous that I might actually be seeded in upcoming tournament but I fear that my ranking is inflated and I'll have some embarrassing losses.

How should I approach this upcoming tournament?

But then I started playing really good. My backhand was working like a charm, especially down the line. So, I won the next 6 games and the set 6-1. I lost 7-6 7-6 :( I am very happy with my backhand in this match - I made a lot of winners. I have a new favourite combination - backhand return down the line. I am really consistent in it - I hit it deep and fast, especially when I am returning a 2nd service. (It is really strange because I have always made more winners with my fh) However, I am very disappointed with my forehand.. lack of pace, depth, consistency.. I hit a few good winner shots, but definitely not enough. In the first tiebreak I was outplayed, but in the 2nd the opponent started with 2 netcords. I got angry and I lost it 7-3 :(

Played today and lost it 3-6, 6-7(6). But I didn't play that bad. Actually I fought back in second set. I was 3-1 down and my opponent had *40-15 for 4-1 but I broke to 3-2. Later I even lead 5-4 in second set but as usually I couldn't serve it out (actually my GOAT DFs came in this game - 2 I think). Btw I also lose one game just because I served 5 DFs (and 3 aces) on it. :p Yeah, I'm really random. :D Also I fought back nicely in TB. I was 5-0 down, closed to 5-4, then 6-4, saved another 2 MPs but of course I finished match with serving DF (yeah, I was trying with ace on second serve).

Played 4.5 singles today. Got down 1-5 in about 20 mins. It was so wierd, I was so off my game. Anyway I got really pissed as I was serving at 1-5 to stay in the match. I stopped going for my flat serves to the backhand corner and just hit med pace slice serves into the body. The unintended result was that I relaxed, and started to really time the ball MUCH better. This of course gave me the confidence to stay in rallies instead of try for the winner too early. I held at love and won every single game after (12 straight games).

I won 7-5, 6-0.

My opponent was not happy, lol.

I played a match against a friend that lives and trains in the Netherlands, but is here for the summer. I lost 6-4 6-7 6-4 :sobbing: . In the first set everybody held serves when he broke me at 4-3*. I made a rebreak when he served for the set, but eventually lost it 6-4 :( Then in the 2nd set we exchanged early breaks and then everybody held till the tiebreak. I saved a matchpoint on my serve at 6-5 and then I won the tiebreak with 7-5. In the third set he made an early break at 1-1 and then everybody held their serves and he won it 6-4. However, I am pretty happy with my play. I don't win very much against him, because he is clearly the better player, but today's match was close. I made some great backhand winners, but also some unnecessary unforced errors.

A very ugly stupid match on my part but was able to save a MP at 6-2 5-4 and came back and my serve and FH started working. Against a pusher I should've beaten 6-2 6-2.

Beat my friend 6-3, 6-3 today. I usually play against a different guy who is very fast and gets everything back. But today, I played someone new, and he had a hard, hard time with my lefty serve in the ad court. There were at least four times when he ran into the fence trying to get to it. And he told me later that my serve was really heavy even when it wasn't so fast. So that was nice.

Quite a funny match. My friend is normally really, really, really calm, like he's constantly in a meditative state. However, tennis gets him angry and he smashed his racquet several times haha. It was unusual.
