She had a pretty solid start this year and a major set back due to the injury.
She reached SF at Stanford and lost to Schnyder, Lost to Frazer in the first round in San Diego, lost to Ivanovic in the second round in Montreal and lost Kuznetsova in the second round in New Haven. I think she doesn't have a great summer, but a fairly solid one.

Myskina and Petrova are not in good form right now. So I think this could be the best chance for Golovin to break through in a Grand Slam.

obviously, yes. She can do it. But don't speak about that, no pressure, please.

I'd love too see that but judging from her recent performances I don't see it happening.

She has a lack of confidence but She definitely has tennis. She played really great in Stanford, defeating 2 top20 and playing a very high-level tennis against patty and Kuz but i think the problem is in the 1st round ! If she can win 1 or 2 matches she can do it i think !
Allez Tati !

She can surely do it. Once she gets by her first couple of opening round matches, she has the game to dismantle Petrova (if she even makes it that far!) as seen by Golovin owning a 2-0 h2h vs the Russian. Myskina has been god awful ever since Wimbledon as well, so Golovin can eek out a QF appearance.

The draw is wide open for her. All of the other seeds in her section are injured or really out of form. She has a couple of dangerous floaters in Frazier and Jackson...but she is very capable of winning those matchups too.

Harkleroad
Yan
Frazier (maybe Petrova)
Myskina/Jackson/Chakvetadze

She has a great opportunity to take on Sharapova in the QF, a rematch of Key Biscayne...the unfinished match.

Indeed. Her problem is the lack of consistency. I watched her match against Ivanovic in Montreal. It was a very ugly match. I still couldn't believe that she lost to Kuznetsova after she double broke her opponent, leading 3-0 in the 3rd set.

She has the game - and with the layout of the draw she has never had a better opportunity.

Doesn't she have Harkleroad first round?

I don't think she'll be making it past the first round.

She has no consistency and since her comeback has not really shown much. Would be stunned to see her win 4 matches in a row in Flushing.

verything is possible, but as said before, 1st round performance will be important

I bet on Myskina to reach the QF in this section!

This is very wide open section. Golovin has a shot.

 She reached SF @ Stanford. Her forth tourney after her comeback, then the next week, tanked to Amy. Lost to Ana I in Montreal who went on to win the tourney and this week lost to Sveta, who according to someone who watched the match, was a great great match.

She truly does have a big chance to reach at least 4th round, if she doesn't choke or tank.
