Myskina. Slam + More other titles + Better peak ranking> More years in Top 10 + Slightly better winning % and career earnings. I'm sure Dementieva would trade it all for that slam Myskina has.

well let's see: major, titles, head to head, career prize money (even though dementieva plays way more doubles than myskina), and highest ranking all go to myskina :tape:

dementieva is currently the better player, but she's hardly ever capable of winning tournaments, much less majors. she really has nothing on mysjina at this point except a silver medal in the olympics.

i never knew these two players had such abysmal winning percentages :tape: that's downright horrific!

Bottom line for the meantime:

Grandslam titles:

Myskina - 1

Dementieva - 0

But Lena will always be the better player to me. ;) Up until she wins a grandslam though, Myskina's career will be ahead.

It isn't so bad. They basically win 2/3 matches. I mean no one has suggested they should go to the hall of fame, but it's definitely respectable.

If current form continues til both turn 30, Dementieva will have had the better career. MJ Fernandez had a better career than Iva Majoli. That's looking like the most appropriate comparison at the moment...

I think Elena is sure a better player but she just finish at the worng time but now is not like the past anymore!!!

because Who's know what is going on with Myskina??

Well hell, hasn't someone made it to the HOF with only one slam?

In my opinion, it wouldn't be unbelievable if Myskina might get in. :| Maria might too, if they both were to retire today. Maybe. lol

Myskina. She won RG and overall more titles.

I'd have to say Myskina, that slam is a huge factor.

I mean, if the next five years go like the last two years have been going for the two players, I guess Elena may finish ahead, but for the moment, definitely Myskina has had the better career.

I don`t care about overall titles much.
But Nastya`s career is better. She has won a GRAND SLAM.
As soon as lena wins a slam, i will say: lena`s career is better than Nastya`s.
However,Nastya has been World No.2..that`s (much) higher than lena`s best ranking.
I hope it`s gonna change soon.....:)
But at the moment,Nastya`s career is better...

Nastya, has a Slam, more titles, leads the head-to-head, basically what everyone else has said, but with Nasty contemplating retirement and Elena possibly coming into her best form, it could definitely change...

Dementieva is more consistence..but I still love Myskina

Dementinator
Aug 23rd, 2006, 09:12 AM
I too agree its Myskina purely on the RG win , HOWEVER ,now I am sure I am gonna go down in flames here and make a monumental balls up of biblical proportions ,but i think I am correct in saying Nastyas been to one GS Final ( which she won) and some QFS but thats it ,whereas Lena has been to two GS Finals and 2 GS Semis plus a bunch of round of 16s ,so its a little complicated... In some ways Lena has performed better in the Slams ,but doesnt have the all important win , but she DOES have an olmpic medal.. Its really quite tight between them and Lena is possibly showing signs of improving whereas sadly Nastya is getting worse so it could all change in 12 months time.. they are both important fo the tour and bring much excitement..

So at this moment in time Nastyas career as been SLIGHTLY better ,although shes almost 2 million dollars adrift in the prize money stakes and if I had to put money on one of them beating a top 5 player ,its gonna be Lena right now..shes simply has more weapons...

If Dementieva wins a slam, she'll have a better carrer.

Don't forget Elena has a silver medal and one fed cup whereas Nastya has 2 Fed Cup.

I really like Dementieva and hope that she wins her first Grand Slam Title. Maybe she will win the US Open 2006. I really hope she does.

DarkchildSwiss

Dementieva won the last Fed Cup nearly on her own. In the final she won both her single matches and finally the double. Lena D. forever.

Even if the stats were like this:

Myskina: GS: 1 Money: $1 Titles: 1
Dementieva: GS:0 Money: $13m Titles: 1324

Still Myskina would be the answer because she has the slam. Enough said.

I voted myski but it can change soon coz lena can win another tier I and a GS she has the nivel to do it so why not but right now it is still myski who has the better one
btw udachi you forgot that nastya has 2 fed cup and lena 1 (I know lena did almost all for the second fed cup of nastya but still...nastya has 2!)

Myskina over Dementieva, but unlike Myskina. Dementieva has a lot more to give.

When lena wins a slam she will be considered the better player with the better career but she needs the slam to do it and hopefully that slam will come in weeks time :D

would be interesting to see them both play at their "best" cos when they meet neither one nor the other ever do ,but ,I still feel that Lena would come out on top ,when LEna is truly on form ,she can embarass the very elite ,bagel Capriati ,almost Bagel Devenport ,make Kim look slow and even enbarass MS ,and DESTROY hingis.. She simply has too many weapons for Nastya ,Nastyas trickier and drop shots better etc ,but when Lena brings out the big guns ,then shes dead in the water .That said when they meet ,Lena seems to have problems and fluff it up ,Nastya was more stable mentally.. those days are over now tho...

They are both great tho..... and I accept that I am biased...

People seem to forget very quickly how good Nastya was playing back in 2004.
She was one of the best baseliner out there and had a lot of variety. She was also able to make her opponent play bad at the same time. That could explain the 6/0 she gave to Lena at Moscow 2004 :tape:

Of course Nastya is far from this level right now and only shows her best tennis from time to time
What I admire a lot about Lena is her determination. She's totally focused in tennis and is very good mentally :worship: . Nastya is just not 100% into tennis anymore it seems!! and that's the big difference at the moment :o

Myskina- 1 grand slam title
Dementieva- 0 grand slam titles

However if Lena is to win a slam then she will have had the better career.

Maybe watching the stats now you can say Myskina's career has been more productive. But also I can see Elena's career prospects seems to be better.
You never know what will happen, though, but i like the chances Elena has in the fututre

Perhaps but what matters is being able to pull out your best on the big day. That is where Dementieva is inferior.

i voted for myskina.

i still think that if both faced each other when they were both 'on', elena would win in two tough sets.

and talking about it when both aren't even close to retiring shows who is the best?... i'll make that decision when they both are retired, dementieva and myskina(on form) are capable of winning a slam in the coming years.

Yeah, but she can't seem to turn it on when it counts. I am sure this will change with experience but in both of her slam finals, her opponents only needed to be solid and she lost.

Myskina- 1 grand slam title
Dementieva- 0 grand slam titles

Case closed.

Iva Majoli-1 slam
Helena Sukova-0 slam

But Helena was no. 3 in the world for like five years straight...and reached a boat load of slam finals and won probably 4 times the titles that Majoli did...

she'll learn. lena's a late bloomer.
her win against jankovic had it all...she almost lost it being up but she fought back to win. that shows progress. now this progress causes me heart attacks but i digress. ;)
