Should have won the Olympic title that year as well - lost badly in the 3rd to Henin-Hardenne. :sad:

I think Nastya would have beaten Mauresmo in that final. Remember back in 2004 Mauresmo wasn't exactly the strongest player mentally when it came to major tournaments.

I heard it, too! But I never thought that she will retire! I think Lena will help her! ;) They are friends for hundrets of years! I can't imagine that she will retire so far lena is on tour!

not exactly in this way.

as I remember-don't know where I read it-she said,that it doesn't make sense to play if she can't compete with the best.so she could as well retire.her goal was the yec and it would be perfect if she would make this.

i don't think there is an automatism to retire if not reaching the yec.
or let's say, I hope it's not ...

I just read an article and she has been suffering from elbow and foot problems - thats why she hasnt played that great since Wimbledon ... as much as i dont want her to, i think she should withdraw from New York and take a month off
