1-6, 2-6 loss to Ni La? How disappointing. It's definitely time for Makiri to find a new coach. Her father isn't helping her game, he's rather hindering it. If the rumors are true that her father is unwilling to spend the money for a new coach, Yuri has to ask himself is it worth watching her daughter continually struggle with her game??? This early exit at the Pilot Pen only hampers her draw at the US Open. I won't be surprised if she is matched up against a Top seeded player in the 1st round which may result in an early exit as well. I just hope that it doesn't happen.

This is exactly why I didn't want her to play this tournament. Her confidence was fragile as it was and now its broken.

It is pretty clear that she has no belief in herself or her game at the moment. The question now is does Maria need a coach or a psychiatrist? Both probably. Maria has to much talent to be playing like this. Something has to change. If Yuri won't spend the money for a coach, it is time for Maria to take a stand. She is old enough to make her decisions, old enough to spend her money. Maria is smart enough to realize that things aren't working and that she needs a coach. Now she needs to act. I love Maria but I can't take too much more of this. It nearly breaks my heart every time this happens. If only Maria believed in herself as much as her fans believe in her

Maria needs to take a page out of Ana Ivanovic's book. She recently hired a new coach and look at the results... She made it to the finals at the Rogers Cup this summer. It seems as though she is going through the same phase Andy Roddick had experienced. He took a long look in the mirror and decided he needed a change. He hired Jimmy Connors as a mentor and look at his recent results. He got to the finals in Indy and won at Cincy over the weekend. That proves that a simple change like that can have a positive effect. I definitely don't think it would hurt her. Maria needs to realize that things are just not working out with Yuri as her coach and take a stand like houseoflords mentioned before. She definitely has the talent and the game. She now just needs the focus and guidance a new coach can give her.

Ana's new coach was Maria's former coach. ;)
